It's that time of year again. On April 15, 1998, the demo of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was released.

Let's start planning for Anniversary Bash V.

Don't worry. We've already started last week ;) J2O may even have a surprise for you at Bash 5.

Remember what great fun it was last year?

The planning has already started. :)

And, yes, it has been five years. They went so quickly.

...Surprise, eh? ;-P

Okay. Good. I was ready to do something myself if nobody remembered.

Why do I never know about anything?

Let's start planning for Idiot Thread IV which nobody will reply to.

You know what's sad? Since I first played jazz, I've missed all of them...all 4 of them.;)

I've been active for all 4 but I only ever had time to play in last years.

What's cool though is that I got my map in Bash4 last year. :) Hopefully I'll get Spider Swamp in this year. *hint hint* ;)

HAHAHA, you're not alone Shorty I missed all of them too. I'll try to show up this time.

Yayfulness! Another anniversary bash. I still remember how the first server got so full last year that it was pinging for almost everyone and defalcon had to start a second one :D

I've appeared at each of them, but usually not very long at all. Hopefully I'll get to play extensively this year. Does anyone know if it will be an all-week thing or a weekend or what? Whee

And I always forget the official release date of the shareware. Was it April 9th? Er...yeah. I have no idea. Shame on me.

You know, there is nothing stopping you from making it an all-week event, Spaztic. If you want.

Or an insta-gib server.

I *think* it was April 15.

Haha someone remembered! :D Yeah what ticked me off was that I had to go out so I could only keep the server up for a little while. As I recall Ever and Fquist had TERRIBLE pings on my server. ;)

Cause I roasted Fquist, and Ever, and more...;)

I skipped all of the Bashs purposefully.. cause I was here when two of them were going on. All of them would have lagged for me on my old computer anyway, and I didn't know most of the levels, so I woulda died majorly.

There is no way <b>I</b> could make it an all-week event with my amazing dialup...

Unless I have broadband by then. *twitches in anticipation*

I'll come, although I'm probably going to be off in UT2k3 land anyway. So nya to you all, or something. Of course, if my <s>evil</s> twin shows up at one of the Anniversary Bash 5 servers, I'll have to come also. ;-P

If you folks ever need me to host for a short period of time, I have somewhat decent ADSL connection, and can probably handle about eight-ten (8-10) people at a time. Perhaps on weekdays I could host during the early morning hours, if my parents don't notice. Of course, I am very prone to kicking off complainers, so that might not be so fun. ;-P

I think you can do that using JazzED

I showed up for 2 out of 4 Aniverserys, the most recent ones.. wasn't able to come at the other ones, don't really remember why.. Its been one whole year already? Heheh, can't wait. =))

As for the screenshot thingy, as far as I know Jazz2 automaticly overwrites screenshot files starting with Jazz0001 if you reopened Jazz2 and take any screenshots again, so next time I'd sugest you just rename your screenshots or place them in another directory.

I missed all four of the previous Bashes. 1, 2, and 3 I didn't even have the game for. No wait, come to think of it, I had the game during 3, but my internet connection sucked so bad I decided to abstain from netplay. Bash 4 was during the four months I didn't have JJ2, because my dad thought I was obsessing over it and made me sell the CD.

I vow not to miss AB5! RAAAAA!

BTW, I can host Blade's levels for a week if need be. In both versions, too. The server may go down once or twice, but I think (hope!) my comp and my net connection (cable! yee! *frolics* :D) can handle it. Actually, I'll just start the server as soon as I get home tonight. 6:30 EST (I have to go to work at Tim Horton's for three hours  ).

Other than that, considering I've never actually seen any of AB1 through 4, is there anything else I can do to help?

You can get us all donuts.

Anyway, it doesn't seem so long since the last bash, and I'm still hoping I won't be around next time.
Oh well! Here's hoping the level selection will be better then last year..

We definately HAVE to use all of Bjarni's levels. ;)

Let's use really old levels and laugh at how bad they were when we all thought they were great.

Or, we could use good levels. Your choice.

We'll need hosts.. Already have one. And we'll have to make sure everyone will actually <b>download</b> the pack, so the servers won't crash.

I wish I could host a dedicated server... but I can't.

Heheh. Bobo Meets Royalty. ;)

I'll slaughter whoever decides that Hells Angels and Crimson Diamond are too old to get in the pack. *glances evilly*

And I'll give a cookie to whoever goes 'hmm...Spider Swamp, that looks alright' ;)

About the levels...I think we should mostly take different levels than last time. Sure, classic levels like BBLair must be in, but else, we should also host levels from the contest and especially some of CelL's new levels :). Well, that's up to the organizers, but I'd like to "help" them deciding there ;P.

Stijn
Mar 5, 2003, 01:40 AM
Indeed. Last year there were only a few new levels.

Haha! I found my Bash4 CTF screenies from when I was hosting! I have a bunch of 'defalcon LJ roasted FquistDM' (I remember specifically capturing those shots). I also have screenies of the first round in Blood Bunny's Lair where we SPANKED red team. :D And another in...uhm, some Colonial level. Red team was ahead 9:2 and then we made a comeback and whipped them again. Good fun. :)

Can you tell us the levels you have decided to include so far, or is that a secret?

Ordinarily, I'd ignore something like this, but the oppertunity to roast lots of famous people I don't remember is very tempting....

I agree with KRSplat. If the people would of told us what levels they chose so far, there would be less fanatics going "OK PLZ IS My level goING TO MAKE IT? WHY U NOT KNOW? U ARE ADMIN SURELY U KNOW EVERYTHING' (I think i exaggerated a bit)
The closest level of mine to make it is Shining Starlight CTF, but its 7.9 (Im not sure if levels under 8 will get accepted)
I could make more levels, but my computer currently broke down, and I dont know when it will get fixed (im typing this on my dads comp, the one without jazz)

Also, try include more knew levels, old ones wont be fun and will waste the space on your jj2 drive since u probably have 50 copies of them.
And no, in my opinion, I dont want any old sucky levels in the bash. Sure, it might be fun to laugh at them, but its not great CTF/battle.

I hope this bash will be a success, and im not sure if I can join when its up, since I may have certain problems on my computer, or I might be doing something else. IF i will be there, it would be the first Bash i witnessed.

I suggest letting everyone suggest a certain amount of levels and then we elect. But perhaps the admins are already programming something like that...

Ai, perhaps I should release a bunch of my old battle/ctf levels and see if any get it. I always wanted to have one of my levels hosted for an ABash, never has happened.

I'd like to see one of your levels, 'Tick. I imagine it'd leave me with a sleep-baked themed nightmare of some form. ;)

I'll be happy if I make it to the Bash, get to roast some celebrities and friends, and get my level into the bash.

I remember AB III being more open to everybody. But I guess if they are the ones doing it, they have the choice. I could always host a server with whatever levels I want if I wanted to.

NighthawkAR

I missed AB 1 because i didn't have the game. I missed AB 2 and 3 because nobody told me about it, and AB 4 because i didn't play jj2 any more. I really want to get into AB 5 but i have a router, and the fixes dont seem to work. (I opened the ports).

I know I can still host levels, and people can join them, i have cable, and could host a small server.

I can't believe this is the 5th year already.

Make this the best bash yet!
