I see them in list, I click on play, it downloads a file. I tried opening it with jazz2.exe but it doesn't work. I tried opening with internet explorer, it shows an ip address, i go into jazz2, type the ip address in, and it just pings constantly. I have winxp.

Welcome to the message board. This should probably be in technical help.
Anyway, do you have a router or firewall?

You need to unblock some ports. Someone should arrive with instructions in a while.

Ports on a router. A router blocks all ports except for a few for security reasons. Opening up these ports allows for information to communicate via these ports. Jazz 2 uses several of these ports to communicate. No computers will explode. ;-P

Open ports 10052 and 10054 on TCP and UDP Inbound and Outbound.

I have 10052 through 10057 open, if that doesn't work.
It might also be that the server is just messed up, though. And Trafton meant instructions, whether he meant to mean that or not. Welcome to the message board of spam, semi-unintelligence, fun, and overall insanity.

anyways that auto login should be rescripted or somethin. Something like serverspy for halflife or jedi knight 2. Those work for me. or maybe make the game ASE compatible.

If we could rescript things within JJ2, believe me, we'd fix a lot more than just the server issues.
And I would have thought that everyone would have known by now that XP is 3vil.

I guess he means he clicked on the "play" button on the gip page, since he said "clicked on play" :P

That could also be it.
What you need to do, then, is go to New Game > Party Mode > Internet Play > Client. It'll then give you a serverlist. Pick a server. Now you play JJ2 over the net with a whole bunch of other foos like people.

So if I WERE able to connect to jazz 2 servers, if I went into the multiplayer mode in jazz2 and to the server list, it would actually show up with servers? I thought the jazz 2 master server was down and so the people at this site made their own. Am I wrong?

The server is at a new location, right? So the old listserver patch won't do it anymore... Some guy provided a Jazz2.exe file that fixes the servres... but I'm dissapointed that that is the only fix J2O provides. I'd really rather fix it myself, through the registry editor, and now that the server is at a different address, what am I supposed to do now? could someone post that registry editing info with an up to date location of the masyter server?

I prefer to use XJJ2 or JazzForce.

The original listserver patch works. I don't know what you were talking about, Hare. The patch can be found at Haze's website, and because I am too lazy to use the anchor tag, I will just say the address: http://jazz3d.cjb.net/
