I know you've heard this question about 1000 times, but none of the other topics helped me out.

Me and my friend have both the same problems, after 20-30 seconds we get the message "connection timed out". We both tried to be the server and we both have our correct ports mapped.

We use DSL and a router.

Any other suggestions how we can play JJ2 online against eachother.

I'm using patch1.23

Thx,

Johan

Could you post a screenshot of your port configuration screen with the values you have set? (Or describe them completely)

Make sure you don't have any other firewall software enabled. Windows XP comes with a built-in firewall, so make sure that is disabled.

Are you trying to play with your friend over the Internet, or through your local area network?

TCP ports: 10052,10053,10054
udp ports: 10052,10054

XP firewall is off.

Computer is in a network with 2 other computers.

There is a hub wich connects the computers with eachother and the hub uplink connects us to the internet.

Again, are you trying to play JJ2 with your friend over your LAN, or over the Internet?

Is the hub uplink connected to your router?
Or is it connected right to your DSL modem?

Does the IP address of your computer start with "192.168."?

I'm trying to play over the internet, the hub is connected to my dsl modem, but my dsl modem is also a router.

My computer ip is 10.0.0.150 the ports i have mapped are only for my pc.

The ip I use to connect to the internet starts with 212.129.xxx.xxx

Oh.

Does it use some form of ISDN by any chance? Because if it does, so far no solution has been found.

Could you give the brand name\model\etc of your router\modem?

I don't know what the problem is. If you have the router configured properly with the correct ports and IP addresses, it should work. If it doesn't work, there is a problem with the router or you have something else blocking you.

Does this (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/kemyst/id34.htm) help at all?

Are you able to connect to other JJ2 servers properly? (Not your friend's)

Nope didn't help

When we I am a server and my friend connects, and we go to the exact same spot. We don't see eachother.

so packeges are lost.

jazz.logicware.com doesn't work when i want to connect to it, computers keeps pinging.

Any ideas?

Are you trying to connect two computers over a LAN or is one person going to the internet and starting a server and the second person trying to join?

If the latter, I know what it is: You cannot have information flowing trough the same ports two directions, so it is clogging. This happens very much in Age of Empires and other major games. Two people cannot play the same game on the same IP.

Solution 1: Get another IP. More expensive, but the fastest fix. Perhaps the only fix.

Solution 2: Play on the same computer. Two players with one feed. Not too good, but can work. :)

Solution 3: Play two different rooms.

My friend lives somewhere else, we have 2 different ip addresses.
