I figured I'd post in here quick before I hunt the internet for possible solutions

While doing a hard-drive cleanup I uninstalled McCaffee Firewall (I never had it running anyway, and being on modem with multiple IPs it's not that important either). Funny thing is, as I uninstalled it and tried to connect to the internet again (it asked me to close rograms using the connection yada yada blah blah), it did, but actually started acting like a firewall, more like an invulnerabe firewall.

See, the problem is I can connect fine, but as soon as I am connected it just refuses to do anything with the connection, it blocks out ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. My connection details shows I sent and recieved a total of approx 200 bytes, and those numbers refuse to change no matter what I try to run. Hows that for a great firewall? Full functionality upon uninstallation...

I've tried:
- A good old fashioned restart
- Connecting to different ISPs
- Uninstalling and reinstalling modem

How am I connected now? I love this laptop in my room *pats laptop* :D
Any suggestions are welcome, as until then I can't use my PC for anything net related (and for me thats a lotta stuff)

It's possible that the network filter driver did not get uninstalled\disabled.

What version of Windows are you using?

...dont...EVER...get anything from McAfee. Save yourself the agony I'm going through.

I've found the problem, it's software related, directly related to McAfee Firewall, it does it when you uninstall the firewall. I've also found the solution thanks to the forum thread below:

Is my problem fixed? No it's not fixed, because i need tow files to fix it.
How do I get these files? Oh thats the EASY part. You see, with McAfee's _GREAT_ support service, they don't put the files on the internet, they have a better way of doing it, you have to contact them through their _FREE_ online chat support service and GO THROUGH THEIR ENTIRE LIST OF TECHNICIANS EACH ONE ASKING YOU FROM THE START WHAT THE %$£%$£ YOUR PROBLEM IS UNTIL FINALLY ONE SAYS HE WILL EMAIL YOU THE TWO FILES YOU NEED!!!!
Funny thing is the technician that helped me was like OH SIR YES SIR WELL SEND IT WITHIN THE HOUR SIR ALL IN A HURRY SIR BLAH BLAH ^&$%&^% BLAH!!!
Two hours later I still dont get an email, return to tech support, spam my problem out in the whole first message along with all the details, the chat reference EVERYTHING, just to get the reply WHICH PRODUCT ARE YOPU GETTING PROBLEMS WITH???? WATS YOUR OS??? ARE YOU SURE YOUR PROBLAM IS MACAFAA RALATED???? I MEAN YU UNINSTALL THEN GET PROBLEM YEH??? CANT BE US!!!1111
Oh joy joy JOY! At the end of all that I get a message saying "Sorry for the inconvenience, we are having difficulties, I will make sure you get the email as soon as possible". "Okay thanks, how soon will that be?" "OH I DUNNO!!! WITHIN 2 TO 3 HOURS YEH??? WE THINK YOU NOT MAD ENOH AT US YET SO YU CAN WAITT LONGER!!!!!

Ohhhhhh, ohhhhhhh, OHHHH!!!! I'm suprised I didn't lose it when talking to those guys...
3 MORE ^$%%$£^ HOURS BEFORE I JUST MIGHT GET THAT ^%$&%^$%^$ EMMAIL!!!! I'M GONNA..I'M GONNA...get some sleep, it's 4:30am and I might have work tomorrow.
