Jazz1 consists of two different kind of video modes... both 320x200

The usual you can copy and paste is the menu screen and other cinematic/pictures.

But during the game, it deals with the video mode very differently; so if you attempt to copy and past it in your paint program, you'll see scramble stripes.

HOWEVER, you can straighten the picture if you skew it to the right in 45º 16 times.

You'll see a long strip of bits of the snapshot.

Now the hard part is putting each picture and stacking it together.

Unfortunately, I can't show you couple shots I took since It's not on my dad's computer. I copied all my goodies on my other computer's 3GB harddrive and brought it with me. It's not installed for me to get the snapshots but I'll have my harddrive be access when my dad bring a special hardware from work in the evening.

So I'll post couple shots here when I can access my harddrive I brought with me this evening... if all goes well http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Standby around 16 hours...

So did anyone tried it before?

=) I made a JJ1 tileset a million years ago and still remembered it. :p And I also remembered that link from about a million years ago, too. ;)

Um, it goes off topic a bit, but how can you take *good* screenshots of Commander Keen? (It's got the same problem as JJ1)

Same as above: Paste, Skew the picture 45º 16 times and stack the stripe ontop of each other

Or, you can press ALT+ENTER to put the game as a window. Usually the shot you would've taken will freeze since it can't do the game properly window-mized. Then you can press PrintScreen. Go into your painting prog, paste the shot, crop to the game's window, and then resize it.

Heh, you can window it properly with the intro movies for jj1, but I can't do that for the game itself...

In my version there are no stripes.

Ohh! ^_^ Is that how it's done. I haven't taken a Jazz1 screen for a while. Thank you for your spontaneous unrelated mentioning of the keystrokes. I had tried a, ehm, about 60 other possibilites to no avail. >_<

Yeahp. Stuff is good. . .

Skulg told me how to do it. And now, i make Jazz1 tilesetshttp://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif. (I made Medivo, Stonar, Ceramicus and a not well working Exoticus)
