Hello everyone,
Im trying to make a tileset but it won't work. Ive downloaded stencil and opened it in paint. I paste a picture on it and saved it in my games/jazz/tilesets directory. If i go to set and then add i click on tilesets but i dont see my tileset there only anm tilesets and not my jazz2.bmp tileset.
I really hope that someone can help me.
Thank you!
Bye Pieter

You have to save it in 256 color mode... I wonder if that's the problem?

Ok, so first you have your tileset: 320xSomthing pixals and saved at 256 colors.

Then you move it (and the masks version of it) to the following picture (My set I'm using for an example is Chezz)

Then you go into JCS and click on the two buttons as shown:
http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://n0.freehosting.net/Stuff/SetStep2.JPG
Then type in the name of the tileset, and what you want the file name to be, then click on the drop down boxes. In the list should be your set and your masks (if you have any). Now, if you don't know what you are doing about the pallet, it is best to check the check box I have circled.

Click OK and there you have it!

I would have just pointed you to the ~tileset101, but last I heard, everything starting with a ~ didn't work.

Oh, and if Tileset101 is working, could someone give a link?

I find it funny that no matter how many times I try to tell people NOT to tick that remap tileset palette box people still do, I've seen it cause some naughty NAUGHTY problems, just don't do it and save yourself ;b

Still, a very nice instruction list fron N0body here, glad it fixed your problem ;)

Disquizzies, Paint users NEED that button.

Wisey doesn't seem to notice that it can also help you FIX problems. When JCS starts shuffling around the palette to optimize things.....

...When JCS starts shuffling around the palette to optimize things.....That happens when:
a) You pushed the REMAP TILESET PALETTE BUTTON!

b) You had the colour in your palette but never used it in your tileset, JCS erases those palette entries to make space for the extra colours it uses that arent in the Jazz2 palette (eg that white line of light that follows your character)

It's true that paint users need that button because they can't manually enter the Jazz2 palette themselves. But please oh please, DON'T TICK THE BOX!

*thinks back to the terrifying days when he used to not know what it does*

...oh come on, even Dethman told you people not to push it back in his tileset making tutorials in J2C ;b

JCS never leaves a palette completely untouched Wisey ;P.

JCS never leaves a palette completely untouched Wisey ;P.Yes but the things it does shuffle around doesn't make any difference to the outcome of your tileset. It will still look the same and will still behave normally UNLESS: (see above post)
