Hello. I saw something really weird. I saw "JJ2 Virus Made By Spazzyman" in green as the quote is. I got a screenie from that. That "virus thing" appears in the F9 list although the screenshot doesn't show that. The text appear twice. When it appears the first time, it goes in player list (JJ2 virus in one slot, Made By Spazzyman in another slot) Oh well, a screenshot.

Anyone got ideas of that? It happened on my own server once too. I know you some of have seen that but it happened to start insulting people making them say things they really don't. Although the thing again is that the insulting things appear in the player list too. Just like that another "JJ2 Virus" thing. And that thing is what I am looking for. Didn't get a screenie for that. Any ideas how to make it get banned?

I found out that you can do a similar thing with Weird (included with Controller 4) to make long names and things. No, those programs are legal but still you can do something like that with them.

Yay for another virus that is not a virus.

Before this turns into a muddled chaotic mass of accusations, I will say a few things at first:

This is NOT a virus. Viruses infect things. Even if this was a Trojan horse, which I doubt, it would NOT be a virus and probably is not capable of spreading on its own.
There is no way to transfer a virus via Jazz 2.
This is probably an external program that simply joins under those two names, using the two slots and little more; I see no reason to assume that this is a virus.
I also see no reason to assume that this is Spazzyman's work immediately; do not simply blame him for having his name there. Someone could be trying to put the blame on him, or perhaps not. Jumping to conclusions helps nothing.

You may want to try a program such as ApprehendJJ2 to catch the IP address of the intruder and then do a reverse DNS lookup to find out what it is. You can check with various sources to find out who has it and, if you want, you can send it to me and I will look it up against a database I have from IRC logs and Jazz 2 playing.

You also may want to check to see if any unusual programs are running. If you can, go to msconfig or Regedit and post a list of the names of the programs and their file pathes that you have running. This is not a completely necessary thing, and I doubt it is a local Trojan horse, but better safe than sorry. Chances are this is simply a hoax and a scare tactic to be ignored; after all, a Trojan horse that does nothing more than that probably is very little threat, and I seriously doubt this is even a Trojan horse at all.

Post if you get any more information, if at all possible.

As Trafton says, use ApprehendJJ2 (you can get it from the downloads section of j20) and then you can get the IP of the person, and add it to your banlist files :)

(and also name and shame him if ur evil hehe :))

As Trafton said. Someone probably made a program (which is fairly easy to make) that joins a server and then leaves it leaving a message behind in the chat. If you're wondering why there is no "joined/left the game" text at the end that's because it's easy to hide it by just changing the letter spacing and move it off screen. The message probably appears twice. If spazzyman really made it why would he put his name in it anyway?

My guess is that he was just hosting the server under a different name.
