The most Overrated and Underrated Downloads

Looking through the top downloads and their reviews inspired me to create this topic.


Packs like the 1999 SXR (Shellions Extreme Revenge) which I admit I've enjoyed and was even once one of my favorites. However some say it's grossly overrated, mainly because it simply isn't as sophisticated as more recent stuff.


Some say Tomb Rabbit is overrated because:

1. The graphics, which were once considered to be great look sort of dated to newer tilesets.

2. Most like the adventure-type gameplay but some find the gameplay here boring and repetitive.


I haven't heard of any underrated downloads but feel free to post your opinion on it if you feel one is.

I'm a tileset guy...

Every tileset made by Blade, Disguise and Uknown are under rated. Every tileset by Agma is overrated. Generaly speaking.

I think honestly that Agama's tilesets are quite overrated. They are indeed very good, but the praise that they receive is a bit overboard; none of them are perfect or anything.

Many of Disguise's tilesets are quite underrated.

None of them. The point of having a system is so that the users can express how they feel about levels. (And so that the admins didn't have to do it.) If everyone thought something was unde , they can vote higher that the average, or the opposite. I suppose some levels can age, though.

Hotel Heroes' two first tilesets Hotel Dream and True Rabbit Hotel. Some FOOS underrated it mainly because they are hotel tilesets. Wake up, fools! If a good tileset happens to be a hotel tileset, it is not a reason to underrate it or lower the rating because of it's HOTELness.

Some of Wiseys tilesets are overrated, and some are underrated. Uhmuhmuhm.... Yes.
Actually.. most tilesets are overrated imho :D
And Tomb Rabbit is NOT overrated. Imo.
And ah well.. Agama's tilesets may be overrated, compared to other ratings of other tilesets they fit in perfectly.

I would/do rate some levels different from the average. But KRSplat is right imo.

Next person to say Agamas tilesets are overrated WILL RECIEVE A PIE IN THE FACE!!!

Have you actually looked at them? No i mean really REALLY looked at them, like stare at each individual tile for 5 minutes or something. I don't think people understand what kind of effort and skill it takes to draw like that, it's a jaw dropper :eek:

My sets = underrated? Haaa haha ahhahaa...no :p

As for tomb rabbit, I thought it was great, it really did deserve the praise. It was original at the time. There may be better levels like it that were released later, but they would lack originality.

Remember that the ratings we see now aren't a general average overall, but the ratings uploadss get depends on the demand/quality at the time of release. It's impossible to look at the rating system as an exact guide to what's a better upload or not, it's impossible.
It IS a good guesstimate though. Genereally anything 7 and above is a worthy download, but that all depends on your standards.

Tombrabbit I hate. It's overrated a lot.
Trafton's Postwar CTF 2 is overrated, too.
ALL of DX's levels are overrated ;p
VOLDARDS COOL TREASURE JUNGLE IS OVERRATED TOO =(

Yeah, I kind of agree there, but it works very well for what it is designed for.

A lot of old 'novelty' stuff is overratted because back in the day people were gung-ho about handing out 10's. I think most stuff nowadays is fairly accurate.

Heh, as for overrated downloads, somehow "Carrotus Squash" by martin comes to my mind. Another very overrated one is "BloodBunny's CTF Pack" by stripe (heh, no offense, both guys are absolutely level gods, i just didn't like the two mentioned downloads as much as the other reviewers did :).
Most underrated is "ZA's Good Side" by Disguise and Distruct and "Mission Uncrossible" by spy.
