JCS '94 is the only Jazz1 level editor available to public so far. Although very hard to use. We are interested in reading how many of you have it, and are using it. Or would be using it if it wouldn't be so hard to use.

We also are interested in what people would like to see in new versions. All kinds of ideas are welcome.

I'm using it and think it is great, but I would like the ability to import my own tilesets into it.

Oh crap I knew I forgot something important and easy. Honestly, that could've been done long before the first real work on JCS94 started, but I got sidetracked.. well.. I guess I can try to get that done in the next week or two if I have time and can find my old sourcecode.. (It'll likely be a standalone commandline thing though since I don't have enough free time to do a GUI).

Or were there some little details that I never figured out? Bah.. I can't remember.

I added a "JJ1 Level" thing to J2O.

I made one small demo level and then failed to use it again...mostly because I have been busy. I want to use it more. Then again, I currently lack a copy of JJ1. I wish to see others' levels, though.

EDIT: Quist, when editing level properties on J2O, both "JJ2 Utility" and "JJ1 Level" are hidden...can you fix that?

EDIT EDIT: Thanks.

I was going to do that today.

Edit: done.

I use it to find secret messages in JJ1, and I've found some pretty dirty ones ;p PM or email me asking for the list and I'll give you them, but be warned that it's rated R. Maybe between PG-13 and R, but it still can be bad. There are some in HH94 levels, but I don't have that. <strike>Bug Violet for them.</strike>

It was included with JJ1 or what? I have an original EUR enchanced cd version of JJ1 and it's not there.

Stijn

No, it's user-made. Try searching for it on J2O, stup.

It works in XP. I have to run setup each time I want to play, but it works.

*off to search for it*

I have it but don't use it (yet). I'm too busy on Devil Dash right now, but maybe I'll make some sort of prologue in JCS94?... And I have found some hidden messages too, but they were all mild...

I have downloaded it, but it
is hard to use, i can't work with it,
i hope a easyer next version,
with event names yet.

Violet CLM

It does support event names. For the most part, an easier interface would involve changing how JJ1 works.

This program is awesome! I prefer JJ1 to JJ2 and therefore I am interested in every tool which is programmed for JJ1. Of course I would like to have a new version of JCS'94.

Does Jazz Jackrabbit 1 work also with sound in windows xp? How did you do that? When I start JJ1 in Windows XP the music is messed.

This can be a problem of the system. In my Windows 98, sound doesn't work in DOS programs no matter what settings I choose (and I have Sound Blaster). However, when I installed Windows ME, everything was fine by the first try. Too bad my PC is too weak for Windows ME. :(

You might want to try instead of running a TPPatch. To slow your processor down to like 166mhz using CPUKiller. I think TPPatch messes up sound timings.

DoubleGJ

I do use Tppatch. It doesn't work. I'm sure it's system's problem.

"tppatch file0001.exe", not "jazz.exe". You did that?

Gee whats with all this profanity in JJ1 lvls? Cliffy .B has put some very rude messgaes in JJ1 lvls.

TPPatch is what's causing the problems. You guys really should try running the original Jazz.exe, using a programme (i.e. CPUKiller) to slow your CPU down to like 166mhz instead.

Violet CLM
Jan 23, 2004, 11:58 AM
I don't think Cliffy wanted people figuring out the file formats.

Please excuse my ignorance since I don't have the full JJ1 and hence don't have JCS94, but I would have it if it worked with the demo.

If you could find a way to make it work with the demo, i'd appreacate it.

No, it's really my Windows. I have other DOS games, like Liero or Epic Pinball. In none of them does the sound work. I'll install ME as soon as I get a new computer (probably on Autumn)
