This is a very early engine test of my new game The Secret of T.E.L.X. To find out more visit my website at: www.sunfungames.50megs.com
The Beta
Basicly in this beta you can test out the engine and have some fun trying out the wepons and killing the people. There are some cool efects and such. This is my best programing job I've ever done (especialy the A.I)
Controls
Arr-ow keys: Move
Control: Jump
Space: Shoot
1-4: Change wepons
Special Controls
C: Create another person (they are created near the bottom left)
V: Destroy all people and boddies
F: 999 of each wepon
So tell me what you think!

I can hardly download that engine test. The server just is too slow. The concept art looks very nice though.

Ah look, found it. I must say, very nice. Although jumping still needs some changes. I loved the flamwthrower, and am very interested in future development on this!

Yeah the flamethrower is my best effect ever. What do you think of those guys randomised movement as apposed to a set path?

Well, you'll need at least two tiles thick walls to make sure they won't go through them :)

And maybe they move a little fast.

Yeah. Sometimes the enemies just walk through walls, and other stuff. When you try to move left or right when in jump you immediatly loose all upward momentum and start to fall. And also, if you use the flamethrower on the corpse of an enemy (which is laying down) , the flames seem to shoot away and the corpse becomes the flame corpse (which, interestingly enough, is sitting up). Otherwise, besides some minor slowdowns with the flamethrower and such, I have no complaints.

I didn't even notice you could even kill them :).

Oh, and also sometimes the weapons work strangly. The cannon sometimes explodes into fire and sometimes does not (and said fire shoots to the corner of the screen, killing all enemies in the way). Also, I have seen bullets and cannon rounds fly through enemies without touching them.

I think cannon shots only change in fire when they touch a wall.

No. They burst into larger flames when they hit a person, or at least for me.

I'm trying to make it when the missile hits them the flames will be smaller.

EDIT: And I have! When a missile hits an enemy the flames no longer get realky big and go to the bottom of the screen killing all in its way. Instead they just kill the guy you hit.

EDIT: I've intoroduced a new system in which I can choose walls they can't walk through.

I've fixed so if you burn a dead body it will turn into a lying down burnt corpse. They still sit if if you kill them with the flamethorwer though

The sprites looks quite cool. I have serious problems with jumping while pressing left or right though, especially when I'm near an edge. I couldn't find any other big problems, except for the enemies walking through walls and the fact that the flamethrower sometimes kills instantly and sometimes it takes 10 seconds to roast someone.

And after more testing, I have found the problem where the bullets and such just fly through the enemies without hurting them happenes when there are a lot of things on the screen. I got them whenever I went on a massive creating/killing enemies spree.

It says I need Cncs232.dll.

I had the same problem. Just download one of the other classic games and drop the T.E.L.X. executable into its folder. This seems to have worked for me.
