Welcome to the very first Jazz 2 Online World Championship CTF 4on4.
First of all: We are currently working out on some good and fine rules (http://gpw.gamepoint.net/bla2.html). The rules are far from done, it also needs some favomaps and needs some user rules imput to fine-tune it all for your needs. Give out your call and we will talk about it, how you want it. Your voice is our change they say ;)
Ofcourse we have an IRC Channel. This one is at QuakeNet (#jazzjackrabbit (irc://quakenet.org/jazzjackrabbit)) easy to remember and easy for the people that aren't known of it. Because in this tournament we need your ip's to validate if your not a merc/fakenicker. And actually play for a different clan or team. We will look pretty strict on it.
We will also look for CupAdmins and/or extra Supervisors as a help for me and the Jj2 scene. This will be announced how/what and when later on.
Final thing is. What can you win from it is pretty neat I say. You don't only win the offical title. But the winning team can also win some JJ2 Swagg and autographs of Cliffy B and Arjan Brussee. Now thats cool isn't it?
So when does it start? We expect to start this in march. But it can also be a tiny bit later. Depends on the people that gives me the swagg. ;)

Gasp. Something happened!!1
I remember doing some organization for something basically the exact same in 2002. It never happened because there were difficulties finding enough time and clans for a good tournament, and also because of hosting difficulties with trans-Atlantic servers and problems with setting up good times for trans-Atlantic servers. Good luck with this year.
If you need anyone to help out, I'm always up for it, although I cannot do much in the way of fighting. But I have lots of sticky notes. In different colors, too.

Note quite, after seeing R3ptile's work and the interest of clans the last few weeks lately. Why not making work out of it and get some nice prices with it aswell..

I have a few questions, in addition:
Is there anything we faces can do to help out in preperation? I.e., any jobs that remain open?
How will hosting be handled when there are, for instance, Americans and Canadians versus Europeans?
What programs will be running in addition to the normal ones?

Hmmm, Shadow is right. If Reptile was able to find 6 clans for his tournament, then Shadow should be able to get at least 8. :P
Uh, for those who are clanless and still want to play?
Can we form some sort of un-clan that just stays together for the tourny and then ends? Or could I set up some sort of page that lets everyone who is clanless sign up, and then we split up into groups of four? I'd be willing to set up the page for the clanless if we do it the second way.

Some people do not have IRC and do not want it or have local network restrictions, limiting IRC's access potential. I have serious doubts for the potential of cheating. Besides, as JJ2 lets you display IP addresses, what is the point of IRC? What is stopping someone from simply connecting to both IRC and JJ2 with the same address, yet not being the person who they say they are?

HoLLa.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
If FoR is for any reason not able to participate in the event....may I join a clan that we are merged with and help them out....?

Merged or allied JMan? If you're merged you're already part of the clan. SO I suppose you mean allied.
And I'm quite sure you can't help out allied clans.

I think in a tournament the following problems will occure..
1. Cheating. Some people might be fakers or use cheat programs? How can somebody know for SURE that somebody is NOT cheating?
2. Lack of people. 4 vs 4 means 9 people including the host. It happens a LOT that people within a clan won't show up for many kind of reasons. And since there are needed 9 people.. there is a big chance that atleast one person won't show up.
3. The host. As trafton already mentioned, what if an American and European Clan will fight against eachother? Will someone host in Isreal or something to make it a fair match?
4. Accusing. It also happens a lot in a clanwar that people accuse other players of different kind of stuff that goes wrong.

My suggestions:
Figure out some way to stop cheating or avoid it and make strict rules for this.
In my opinion.. (not that it actually counts..) I would say a 3 vs 3 clanwar is better for two reasons. First off the lack of people, and second, some levels might be too small for such an amount of people.
I would make sure that the date the clanwars are held.. should be on a day and time when the most people would be available.. Something like saturday evening or sunday evening?
And for last.. Make strict rules for this tournament and try to organise it good, a lot of people fail in this task and therefor the tournament runs up as a failure.
I would like to say, good luck with the tournament and I hope it will go as planned!

Cool. Finally a clan-tournament.
I really hope that GpW participates at least this one, becuz it doesn't arrange any clanwars. And that GpW also let's me to play in the tournament.
I would recommend the time of the matches earlier than even some guys recommend. I would say that a nice time would be afternoon. But this only when european clans face. Always so early as possible, because if it's held in 9:00 PM in NL time, even when it's one hour later for me, I feel so tired that I can't play properly, etc. Well, when an american clan and an european clans face against each other, the time could then be something as Thunder or some other persons recommended. It would be morning for americans or canadians, and evening for europeans, just as everyone are still up. Some americans just have to wake up earlier.
Well, I think I had something more also to say, but too tired to write it here just right now, so... :H

When i looked over it...I saw I made a mistake and was to lazy to correct it. ;p

4 vs 4.. Easy to arrange (at least our clan always shows up in time :P), but maybe hard to play if the server's laggy. But IMO, without lag, a 4 vs 4 is much more fun than a 3 vs 3 and it also shows more of the clan's quality.
CC's strategy for this tournament.
War Arranger Jippo and me were already discussing the teams to use for this tournament. These basic teams are not 100% sure yet. We have some players for each level we play, basically.
1. Diamondus Warzone: CraccoBoy, BunnyElmer, AvK,
2. Distopia: CraccoBoy, BunnyElmer, AvK, Stiletto, Jippo,
3. Happy Semiconductor: BunnyElmer, Stiletto, Jippo,
4. Back-ups: SonGohan, Vegito,

I didn't know that CC is clan only for Distopia, DW and Semi.. but.. ok o.O

Do we have to name our warteams already?
Enigma
Jan 6, 2004, 01:14 PM
Of course. Naming fixed warteams before anyone knows when exactly the matches are going to take place, or if everyone can make it then, is a very sensible thing to do and won't cause trouble at all. [/sarcasm]
