Since I've got this custom built PC, I haven't installed the network card drivers, so it has always remained a yellow circle with a black exclamation mark in my System -> Device Manager. I use a Windows 98 SE, AMD Duron 1.3GHZ, 128MB, 2 HDDs, 20GB and 40GB and that's about it. The network card i recently installed was a SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter. It seemed quite reliable. After installing the drivers and rebooting, I found that i could not access the desktop after it crashed with "MPREXE" familiar red circle, white cross. It says it caused an invalid page fault with MPRServ.DLL. After a while trying to fix this, i eventually had to use scanreg in dos and get an old registry back up and it fixed this. This however also caused the loss of the network drivers etc.

I found out eventually that the MPREXE crashing had to do with PWL files in windows, password lists. I removed them and the entries in system.ini and it worked, along with network drivers. However this has forced me to be in a non-password / cookies environment and its annoying. >.<

The network card still doesn't seem to work. I've connected it to my XBox, trying to get it online but without avail.

Could anyone help me with this a) fixing this network card drivers and MPREXE conflict and b) helping me set up a network with my xbox using 56k to go online but xbox with the network along on the computer?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers~ Red.

Don't even try it. You would lag out of EVERY Server.
