Ok, literally he is the worst one to host the server itself period. I mean cmon, I just hosted an all day server called
" J4E Dedicated Server '
And then (PA) bans my ip from the lists.
this is so not fair :(

I hope you have a dynamic IP...
Oh and just because he banned your IP it doesn't mean it really is the worst list server. Maybe you did something to anger him. Or maybe he's just testing his new 1337 powers on you :P

now why would he ban you? There are two reasons. One, you did somthing that ****ed him off, or two, he did it because ehs an idiot. (PA)

Amen to what crono just :)
Btw even though we both dislike eachother on a level, he still has no rights to ban one of the active jj2ers :(

Banning someone from the list server is fairly serious. It should only be done when the perpetrator does something deliberately to damage the integrity\stability of the list server (i.e. denial of service attacks or extraneous fake servers), or more generally to negatively affect other users accessing the server. It should not be done on the basis of emotion or opinion.
For example, if Darker were to host servers with names offending Nimrod, that would not be a suitable reason for banning. However, if Darker were to list multiple fake servers, regardless of their name, it would be a suitable reason for banning.
I don't know any details of what happened here, so this post is for both Darker and Nimrod. One should also note that since Nimrod hosts the server, he has every right to do whatever he wants because he's the one hosting it, and not on the behalf of someone else. However, he would not be a good list operator if he bans people without adequate reason.

banning someone from the listserver shouldnt be done in the first place.
that is just sad and pathetic.

I agree, the "ban IP" should only be used when there's a DoS attack. Now it's like you're controlling the whole JJ2 online multiplayer, which sucks.

I would think going around lazering severs would be enough. Or having a history of doing that.

He might be trying to discourage dedicated servers.
It might just be a warning. Check back in a few days to see if you're still banned.

And then (PA) bans my ip from the lists.
Yay! I'm gonna use Nimrod's server now. And perhaps send him money.

Whats sad and pathetic is no one has been banned from the list server, the feature hasnt even been installed yet.
The problem darker is having, is my list server was taken offline this morning, for some server upgrades, he was using a exe patch, one thats set to use alberto's domain only, alberto's domain points to mine, therefore his jj2 could only use ONE list server, and the ONE list server it could use was offline.
Sadly I think hes pathetic for even making this thread, and for all those who belive him, get out more.

I for one believe Nimrod. And Darker should have been more careful before smearing Nimrod. Please do be sensible, Darker.

The nimrod-online list server was down earlier. You could have checked this by asking anybody else if they could connect to it. Also, you were having trouble connecting to jazz.nimrod-online.com, jazz.contrabandent.com is also usually available. If you don't believe jazz.nimrod-online.com was down, check it's uptime. It only came back up about 7 hours ago.

I didn't think also that Nimrod would just ban peoplf for fun, he doesn't seem like the type to abuse his power. Unlike some other people on IRC...

I have a couple of things to say.
Stop trying to pollute Nimrod's name by spreading lies, Darker. Don't claim that someone did something if it's just a wild guess. Taking it to JCF is even worse. He was just upgrading his serverlists, that's why he took the serverlists down for EVERYONE. It doesn't mean you're banned! And I'm sure that he wouldn't, if the feature was possible, ban anyone without a really good reason.
Also, even IF he DID ban you, it's HIS serverlist. HE pays and hosts for it. You should be grateful that he does this without getting any profit out of it anyways.
Now be nice and admins, close another very useless topic please! ;P

Nimrod has provided us with a reliable serverlist
So I don't really get what the fuss is about
Don't focus on the Ban feature it's only to defend players to keep on playing
So Darker, instead of yelling around you could have mailed nimrod to check why you were unable to use the listserver.

Listen, over the years I have had so many things happen to me on this game and have had alot of enemies and I just thought the obvious.
Nimrod I am sorry for making u (mad) and yes I did judge first before I even looked at any possible solutions. Yes, everyone laugh at me I made a foolish mistake by accusing the listservers of banning me cause my server didnt show up. I guess that thought was strongest in my head at the moment.
Ok, so I am sorry for blaming you for any of this Nimrod. I don't care if you forgive me or not, I am just posting this so it can be closed before whatever is left of my rep ( if I have one ) is totally poisoned.

So you care about your own reputation, but you didn't think how your post would effect mine? I have had loads of people having a go at me and moaning at me via irc, msn and in-game, its a nightmare at the moment. All thanks to you and rushing to point the finger at someone.
The reason I took it offline was for some important server maintaince, which should help it boost speed, so far I regret doing that if everytime i take it off, I have people like you having a go at me.
Anyways I'll accept you apologie just please think next time before accusing me, I'm not your enemy. Just drop me a MSN or E-mail next time if you think theres a problem, instead of making a rude thread on a public message board.

I think there should be a list-server in the netherlands as most people live there. If this isn't possible, then ill say that Nimrod should please stop harassing people and think he owns JJ2. The other guys from the listserver have been quite nice to me but Nimrod just threathens me via MSN, he already banned me from his listserver but i think he should stop being arrogant to people. Monolith is doing a good job so i think only Monolith's server should stay as Nimrod-Online.com is quite useless.

well TS i agree with nimrod beewing sometimes over the top with power abuse but he doesnt do it all the times i dot hate nimrod i just cant get along with him , as people didnt knew me and thaspaz are good friends but hating nimrod no, nimrod used his powers once to ban me from serverlists from what ever reason it was i know i am still able to hack but i wont unless some familiar ip hacks me , nimmy good work with your serverlists but ASD wont be stopped by bans u know that might u need something make a 1.26 patch and well just block banned ips automaticly

And harassing him right back won't do you any favors either, in fact it will only make things worse. Everyone do things for a reason, and we can safely assume Nimrod knows what he's doing because of the great responsibility he has: maintaining the listservers.
Even so, some of the people he's dealing with (whose names I won't mention) can be quite unreasonable. They don't listen to what Nimrod has to say to them, all in the name of "fun", even if it's spoiling everyone else's fun. The latter can range from spamming, cheating, or even hacking. Some perceive it as funny, but no doubt most perceive it as annoying and best left punished. Spamming isn't punishable because it's just annoying, nothing more. Cheating and hacking however are punishable because they really spoil other people's fun by a) giving an unfair advantage b) risking damage to JJ2 or even the computer itself c) using it as means of extortion.
Here's a little scenario about what I think happened. C/H will be the Cheater/Hacker and N will be Nimrod:
C/H plays JJ2, cheating and crashing server "out of fun"
N bans C/H
C/H gets mad at N and starts harassing him, thinking it was "unjustified"
N gets mad too and bites back
Simplified yes, but we can all agree on that now, can't we?

Brother Faith's Thread Revival!
And may I add ThaSpaz' point was completely off? The one who originally started this topic thought he was banned, but a) that feature wasn't installed at the time b) the servers were down for upgrades. Nimrod wasn't to blame, big misunderstanding, both made up (I hope) are happy again (I hope).

Hijacking a thread and reviving a thread are both frowned upon, but doing them both together is just plain mean. Thus, closed.
