*15 or more duels required for awards
First off, I would like to congratulate all of the award winners. This season has been extremely successful and I am
so pleased with the results. JDC is possible thanks to the dedication of everyone involved, especially the other administrators and officials.
I am indebted to all of their support.
As far as the future is concerned, anything is possible. However, there will most likely be another season some time during or before next summer.
I hope everyone had as much fun as I did this year. See you all on JJ2! |

Season 8 is over - September 21, 2003 - 1:39 AM
|
 |
JDC season 8 has officially ended today. Congratulations to Thunder XD for being the winner of this season, and less congratulations to CelL and BunnyElmer for comming in second and third respectively. (Ha ha you didn't win.)
I would like to thank everyone who participated, and I would like to especially thank Unhit and Enigma for letting Europeans play in JDC events. It's hard to find people dedicated enough to help so much.
The detailed results of the final event can be found here.
The awards for this season should be posted within a week.
Look forward to season 9 sometime in the future. I personally will try to make sure it will take place before next summer! It will not be as active as this season was, but it will still be fun.
[Comments by Bobby]
I would personally like to reiterate a thank you to everyone who participated in JDC this year. Every season I am impressed with the continued growth and dedication of everyone involved. I'll try and get the awards out as soon as possible, but I've been absolutely absorbed in other things and won't have the time to sit down and calculate the awards until probably mid-week. Until then congratulations to Thunder and happy jazzing! |

Final Event - September 20, 2003 - 6:50 AM
|
 |
Tomorrow, Saturday. CTF. Be there, or go to the euro one. The round will end tomorrow too, thus concluding JDC Season 8.
Lazy newspost, eh?
CelL, who is too lazy to make a newspost of his own, adds:
This evening, 9 PM. CTF, and some other event stuff of some sort. Be there. Or not. Your deccision. |

Final Round - September 14, 2003 - 7:38 AM
|
 |
First off, sorry for the inactivity. School has caused me to neglect JDC, and becuase of this I was not able to do an event this saturday. I have posted one for tuesday. I know that's a weird day for some people, but I really can't say I have much time for hosting events until then.
Since this is the final round, it will be worth a much higher amount of points than the previous ones. Fun fun fun. Or something.
Anyway, I there will be a big final closing event thingy next weekend, so look forward to that or I BAN!1111111

Some problems with the new 3v3 Rule - August 31, 2003 - 5:34 PM
|
 |
Okay, lately I've been receiving some queries to add 3v3s from days passed already, like "Hey, I played this 3v3 yesterday" etc.
I think the system works the following way: duels are supposed to be added right after they were played to avoid problems with stuff like "but I played this last round". The same, of course, goes for 2v2 and 3v3. Since you need an official to add these, there could be the problem that they aren't online at the moment. Especially with 3v3s, it then is very important that you just mail any official the score, so they know that the event was from the day before (or use ICQ offline messages and that stuff). |

New rule with 3 on 3's - August 28, 2003 - 11:24 AM
|
 |
Starting now, users will be restricted to one 3 on 3 game per day. This is because some people are seriously overdoing them and recieving way too many points.
I'm sorry if this annoys some people, but the JDC system just gets too abused with this.
A notice to all officials: From now on, make sure that everyone who is in the game you are uploading has not had a 3 on 3 that day. If you see someone who has a repeat, either do not upload the game or give the person 0 points for it.
Unhit adds: Bah, I wanted to write that ;). So...this is a temporarily solution until the new system is up, I think. It has no personal reasons, it's just against the abuse, and it was abuse what many people did with 3v3. A maximum of 35 additional points a round which can't be taken is still a lot, don't forget that. |

Round 7 and an event (finally) - August 24, 2003 - 11:16 AM
|

Round 7 has begun, 4 hours late (GASP) and I have also posted an event (DOUBLEGASP).
It's on tuesday, and I made it an hour before the usual time I host events because this one will be longer than I usually do them.

Euro CTF event - August 15, 2003 - 6:02 PM
|
 |
I've planned a Euro CTF event for tomorow at 8:00 PM (GMT +1). I've picked several both old and new levels to play in. Enigma is going to help me moderate the event.
Oh, and sorry for the short notice, but seeing that there have been several spontanious events lately I figured a one day's notice was reasonable.
Oh, and hurray for Unhit who just came back from his vacation, and will be helping us moderate the event too.

Mike has been bad - August 11, 2003 - 2:45 PM

He never posted event times so I'm not sure if there will really be an event tonight. In any case, please keep a close eye on the site incase we do have an event.
Oh, and I've been back since Saturday evening if you didn't know.
[Edit by EvilMike]
Yes, I have been bad. When I made that news post I thought I could do an event today, but then I realized I probably won't have enough time. I'm posting the event for tomorrow instead. It will be CTF and possibly a bit of something else. |

Round 5 Begins - August 10, 2003 - 8:12 AM
|
 |
Round 4 has ended. Round 5 has begun. All settings from the pervious round are the same. I know this round was a day and a few hours longer than the previous rounds. That probably was a result of us being lazy vacations. In any case, congratulations to CelL for winning round 4, and half-congratulations to anyone who almost won the round but didn't. |

I'm back. - August 9, 2003 - 10:11 PM
|
 |
I have returned from my long and semi-eventful vacation. From what I can see, everything on JDC went smoothly and nothing bad happened. Until bobby or syntax returns, I will be in charge of all important JDC matters such as problems with accounts, bad users to report, etc. I will also be doing an event on monday which will be a relatively long one worth many points. I won't post the time yet because I don't know what time I will be able to host, but it will be posted by tomorrow.

Ground Force event postponed - August 7, 2003 - 6:18 PM
|
 |
My sincerest apologies for this, but due to extreme lag, the triggers didn't work for most people, making the event literally impossible to play. I'm not too keen on setting a player limit, since this is bound to get complaints from the people who can't get in then. This event will be played some other time, when hosts with extremely fast connections are available again. Sorry about the mess.

| Yes, it's true. Round 4 has begun (or at least I'm hoping it has begun). I'm not sure if I did it right to be honest. Bobby aka Dizzy went away for a little while and has allowed me to change the round. In other words, I now have full admin powers (most likely temporarily). So you can bug me if you have any JDC problems until Bob or EvilMike come back. Feel free to continue doing what you normally do on JDC. |

This season has gotten off to a great start with two very active rounds. Congratulations to Cell and Jman who both received 124 points in the last round.
In this round, please note that all matches will be worth 2 points. It was worth only 1 in the last 2 rounds. Again, please note that you need 3 duels to place in the standings. Happy dueling and be sure to keep an eye out for events! |

Gone for two weeks - July 25, 2003 - 1:09 AM
|
 |
I'm going on vacation, and thus won't be able to host events or be as active in JDC as I would like to. I won't be contactable through MSN or ICQ. The best way for you to reach me is via private message on j2o or the jcf. I am still fully capable of handling issues such as password resetting and problems relating to duels/users/whatever, but contacting another administrator would be in your best intrest since I won't be able to do much besides check to see that the site is still running.
Anyway, I'm sorry I won't be around to do events for two weeks, but to make up for that, I promise that I will host a huge event upon my return.
Anyways, I won't be leaving until saturday, but I doubt I'll be online tomorrow.

Down a Mod - July 24, 2003 - 2:06 AM

Due to an evil router setup, I will not be able to moderate any of the events this season until the last week of August. However, I am still available by e-mail or AIM/ICQ if players have questions on aynthing that is not event-specific.
(If anyone knows anything about the AirPort router made by Apple, help would be much appreciated.) |

I have just ended round 1 with Jman taking first place, Thunder taking second and myself taking third place in the round. This was a great way to start the season and I hope we continue to have such great rounds. Please note that this round will require 3 duels to make it on the stats page for the round. Also, be sure to pay attention to the events page, we should be posting more soon!

Breaking News: EvilMike is the king of idiots. - July 18, 2003 - 2:08 AM

Euro CTF Event - July 16, 2003 - 5:28 PM

 |
| Bobby told me he had been asked for my IP. I actually don't know a reason why any of you should need it. Just apply the listserver patch, and you shouldn't have any problems connecting to my server. If still, please contact me. I just don't think it's very useful to publish an IP-address here. |

Assassination Event Finished - July 14, 2003 - 2:12 AM
|
 |
The assassination event was successful, and lasted two hours. At the end of the game we did a game of jailbreak because I ran out of levels. Thanks to all who participated. The event was out of a big 35 points, and the server was full at times. While a few people decided to make a point of annoying me as much as they could, it was dealt with in a semi-peaceful manner. Please do not complain of lag or stuff not regenerating. I can't fix your bad connections.
For a detailed breakdown of the stats, go download the spreadsheet and see the detailed breakdown of the scores.
I don't know how soon I can host another event in the future, but it probably won't be until Thursday. |

General stuff about (Euro) events - July 13, 2003 - 6:52 PM
|
 |
I've been talking to Bobby about the duration of a round (mostly from Saturday night - > Saturday night), and then set some "fixed" dates for events. Each week on Saturdays, there will be one euro event, and probably also on most Wednesdays. Time of the event will usually be 8 PM GMT +1.
That's about it, contact me or one of the toher officials/admins if that's somehow confusing ;). |

Updates - July 12, 2003 - 7:13 PM
|
 |
Well, over the last couple of days I've been fixing little things on JDC most of which do most of you probably do not notice. However, one change that everyone should notice is that when viewing any duel stat page letting the mouse hover over a user's row will show you their comments on the duel.
Also, if you experience any errors please contact me and I'll try and resolve them as quickly as possible.
[Edit]
I also added sub point categories to the personal pages to make it easier to figure out how scoring works. |

Yay for good events - July 11, 2003 - 10:45 PM
|
 |
Despite the various listserver problems we have been having, the event was a success and it was a full server of 16 people. Most people had quite an enjoyable game, and no one had to lose points due to any reasons (although I did make a few threats). The statistics for the event can be found on the site, and if you want more details you can check out this place. All the events which are announced or are worth a significant amount of points will be uploaded to that location in spreadsheet form. Some people, such as trafton, like to overanalyze things and see all the detailed stats.
The next event will be Assassination, and it will take place on Sunday at a later time than the one today occured. I am going to try to organize a European counterpart of the opening event so the people who missed todays event can still play. |

Listserver Problems - July 11, 2003 - 6:57 PM
|
 |
The logicware listserver is down, and in case it doesn't come back up, my IP address is 66.183.18.37. Use it to connect to my server when I host the event. Also, you can use this file to connect to my server, provided you aren't Trafton. Note that the file will do nothing if I am not hosting. OR I BAN. [Edit] You can also clix0r here to download a file which will make jazz2 connect to the new listserver. It will replace jazz.logicware.com in your regestry, but all that ever did was forward to the new listserver, so there's really no point in keeping it. Backup your regestry if you are into that sort of thing. |

JDC Returns - July 11, 2003 - 5:54 AM
|
 |
After a long period inactivity, JDC is finally back. The website has been redesigned with a new layout by Spaztic and much of it has been recoded by Bobby. The system still works the same (with points, duels etc), but it is now improved. The season will begin tomorrow, Friday July 11th at 5:00 PM EST with a CTF event (see events page for more detail). Please take a look at the site to familiarize yourself with it, and make sure you log in. Users who do not log in this season will not be able to be in duels or events, because their accounts will be considered inactive. You do NOT have to create a new account. For any password related problems, please contact an administrator and it will be sorted out.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new JDC season, and if you have any problems with the new site or comments, please feel free to tell us. |
