Great job everyone, it's been another fun season. Congratulations to all of
the award winners (and especially the psuedo-award winners). Let me remind you
again that if you have anything you would like to say regarding the season please
comment here or on the JCF - I love hearing what everyone else thinks of JDC.
I also need to thank every single official for helping make this season work
like always. In particular BlurredD deserves a lot of credit for continually
making new levels and greatly improving the season through this Tournament Tuesdays.
Lastly, with the talk of more tournaments happening in the future I encourage
everyone to participate. If you are considering your own tournament for JJ2
please plan everything first. You need to have a set of clear rules which make
sense before you start the tournament. If you are thinking of trying this, please
by all means contact me, I'll be very happy to talk to you and give you advice
on how to run a tournament in JJ2. We don't need more failed tournaments. Anyways,
thanks for all the good times.
I better see all of you playing JJ2! |

JDC 9 Over - August 15, 2004 - 7:08 AM
|
 |
Season 9 has ended with Thunder being the winner for the second season in a row. Thunder now joins Super Saiyan as the only other person to win multiple seasons. BunnyElmer and James aka Jman round out the top three. Congratulations to everyone who participated and extra special congratulations to all the winners.
I would also like to thank all of the officials who have helped host, organize, and run this season - we could not have had this season without you. Lastly I want to thank everyone for being a part of this season. I know that not everyone was as happy as they might have been in past seasons but that's part of how things work (I have to say that season 2 was probably my favorite season) but if you have any comments about the season feel free to say something. If you have any suggestions on things you want changed in the future please post them on the JCF in this thread.
Complete awards will be posted soon. |

Ending event is over. - August 11, 2004 - 8:31 PM
|
 |
| It is over now. Too bad I lost the scores from the B1ILRS round so I might give points only to the last three players who were in. The event started really bad but at last it was much funnier and I really enjoyed playing there, especially at the iCTF rounds. I'm going to vacation tommorow, very earlier, and I'll come back at sunday, which means I won't time to finish this season... Goodbye, people! ;D I will upload the rawscores file in 15 minutes, don't worry then! =) |

Tournament Tuesday #8 Results - August 10, 2004 - 9:59 PM

For those who don't know, I hosted two tournaments (if you can consider Ironman LRS a tournament level) in a row. This was a pretty good event for the most part. Congrats to Spazzyman for winning the WT game and to Bobby aka Dizzy for winning the ILRS game.

As for the ILRS game, the results have been uploaded with the other rawscores. Here are all the winners of each TT event:

TT#4: BlurredD
TT#5: FireSworD
TT#6: FireSworD

Season Will End Saturday the 14th - August 9, 2004 - 8:56 PM
|
 |
Round 8 will be the final round in this JDC season. Unlike the usual 10 round season that we try for, many of the officials will be increasingly busy in the weeks after. In particular, I will be leaving for college (as a freshman) around that time and I don't know what my schedule will be like or if JJ2 will work inside the school network even. This has been a very fun season and I really hope that no one is too upset at the early closure. If you have any comments about this however please do post a news comment!
EvilMike adds: Sorry, one more thing... we forgot to set the round to be worth more points than usual, as it is JDC tradition to make the last round worth a lot. So... if you take a look to your left, you will see nice big numbers. |

It was GG, I really had fun there. The only problem was my JJ2 made fake screenshots, I can't really explain what happened but it made a lot of problems.
Thanks for all these people who sent me screenshots. I made the scores, although they are only about 80% accurated. Too bad we lost one round, but I can't do anything since none got its scores. I also uploaded the rawscores file so you can go view your roasts.
I almost forgot the thank all the competitors who participated at the event, thank you. =) |

Officials vs Competitors Results - August 7, 2004 - 3:43 AM
|
 |
As always, the officials win yet again. The competitors just can't beat the officials. If I remember correctly we've won every single season. :)
The event scores are a little strange since Trafton and Violet played for both the officials and competitors depending on the round since we lacked an adequate number of officials.
Remember, the JDC season will not be lasting much longer so get all your duels in soon! (But at least one more round.) |

Scoring Fix - August 5, 2004 - 6:35 AM
|
 |
Thunder pointed out a small scoring bug which had been giving people too few points for opponent quality at times. This bug affected a handful of random 2on2s and lowered an individual's opponent quality for that round. I have fixed all past occurances and hopefully fixed the bug for all future 2on2s. It is unclear to me what caused this so if you feel that your opponent quality is too low in the future please contact me.
Scores are generally a couple of points higher - if changed at all. |

Tournament Tuesday #7 Results - August 3, 2004 - 6:52 PM
|
 |
Today, I hosted another Dungeon Tournament (v3), which used a slightly different instagib/shield system than the one from the first version of DT. I had some Internet problems once again, but that didn't stop me from hosting. Next week's TT could either be WTv3 or some crazy level I manage to make at the last minute. Only time can tell. Congratulations to Thunder for winning his first Tournament Tuesday.
The Results.
Edit: I forgot to mention that in this TT, I changed it from 3 points to 4, so wins are now worth a little more. I might keep it like this for now on. |

Tournament Tuesday #6 Results - July 28, 2004 - 12:17 AM
|
 |
| In an attempt to do a different kind of level for TT, I hosted Ironman LRS, or ILRS, which is basically XLRS but with 10 lives and a few other nuances. It would have gone perfectly to plan if my ISP didn't CTO everyone out of the server midgame. Luckily, the game was almost over when Thunder and Green Plant were the only ones left in the playing area. Therefore, I decided that those two players both received the 1st place multiplier (which in this case is the number of their roasts multiplied by 2). But the winner of the event was FireSworD who got the most roasts and was the 3rd to last player left during the game. I might do another ILRS in the future if I can be sure that I won't be temporarily disconnected from the Internet doing the middle of an event. |

We finally had a successful euro event. Many people participated, it was really one of the biggest events I've ever seen. That was really exciting and very fun, as I promised. Thanks to Nimrod for being a great host and I really hope you will keep hosting our events in the future. Also, I must thank AvK for helping me with moderating this event.

Semi-Spontaneous Event Results - July 24, 2004 - 2:46 AM
|
 |
| From a lack of big events that everyone could participate in, I made this event. I can't really complain how the event went. The reason why this was a semi-spontaneous event was because it was listed in advance but not 24 hours beforehand. Therefore, I made a little exception (hopefully no one will mind) and made this event for 20 points instead of the 15 point max. The scores have been posted and the rawscores have been uploaded. |

Tournament Tuesday #5 Results - July 20, 2004 - 7:40 PM
|
 |
The serverlists were a little messed up when I started hosting and not too many people joined the pregame, so I decided to have an 8 player tourney to see how it goes. A few people didn't get to play, but those who participated didn't get all that many points anyway, plus there's always next week. I seeding the players according to Overall Standings, and it would have gone according to plan if Reptile stayed for his matchup against Violet. Instead, I improvised (with the Dalspot/JSZ Jazz duel) and that solved several problems at once.
On a side note, my ISP decided to CTO everyone from my server for no reason, but other than that there weren't any major problems. This Tournament Tuesday was a little different in that it used 8 players instead of 16 players, but next week will be something completely brand new (for the most part) so be ready for anything.

J2O Server Move - Don't submit things - July 14, 2004 - 10:35 PM
|
 |
From the J2O Main page: Please don't add things to the site at the moment. We're moving to a new server which means that most data you add will not be carried over.
-----
This means that anything you submit to JDC, including duels, may be deleted. I highly reccomend that you simply remember the scores, and submit the duels/whatevers later once the server move is over. Even though I'm always saying you should submit duels right after they are done, an exception to that rule will be made for this case.
Another news post will be made once the server move is done.

For this TT, I tried out a new level for a new tourney. It's called Dungeon Tournament, and it's still under some development. The event didn't go so well, and I got one or more complainers about the timers or whatnot in the level, but I'll try to appease everyone for the weeks to come by making various versions of this level, like I did with WT. I'll post the semi-messy stats as soon as I fix up everything. Next week's tournament will be at 1AM EST as of now.

At last, we tried to play exclusive gamemodes such as Assault, Double Bank-Robbery and Onslaught but those gamemodes can work perfectly with 8-10 players, but I don't mind it can work better, especially with that extremely lag you all had. Scores will be posted in 10-20 minutes and the winners will recieve 15 points or less.
Update: I don't mind I should post a rawscores file because we played only two rounds. The first round deserves ten points (Classic Assault) and the second deserves five points (Capture The Flag till 3). Tyuni won the event because the teams he played in got the victory twice, congratulations. |

Euro teamplaying event. - July 10, 2004 - 2:47 PM
|
 |
I'm trying to organize an european event today, although the serverlist seems to be down then many people won't know about the event, I'm afraid.
The minor problem is XSD and TF's clanwar which begins one hour after the euro event and because of that, we will have to finish the event very earlier. Too bad.
Anyway, if the serverlist won't come back, you will be able to join through my IP - 81.218.44.163. Good luck and have fun.
Note: I think the teamplaying event could be a great warm-up for XSD and TF. |

Tournament Tuesday #3 Results - July 6, 2004 - 7:51 PM
|
 |
For this tournament I used WTv3, which is my favorite version mainly because people can't really complain about lag or 5hks or whatnot. I enjoyed the tournament even though I didn't actually get to play in it. And for those who were wondering, I didn't implement the matchups according to Player Quality since that would've been a mess to set up with people leaving and joining. I might do use it if there's ever an 8 player tournament, though. As for next week's tourney, expect something that isn't a WT level. Don't worry, I'll make it interesting at the very least.

Sorry people, the team battle event wasn't that good. The levels were well made but unfortunately not tested well enough for team battle. Glitches rendered most of the levels unplayable, so the event was called off after 2 rounds. Some people also wound up being a nusance, but they were dealt with.

Finally, the euro Race event has ended, it was pretty short though. Too bad I was the only offical there then I had to organize everything myself, I hosted the event and some various people complained about lag at the beggining but at last everything went very well and it was fun.
Congratulations to Jman for winning the event with 30 points, for more information and scores you can get the rawscores file by clicking here. By the way, people who joined the server for five seconds and left didn't receive any points, so don't complain.

Epic DUEL - July 2, 2004 - 7:25 PM
|
 |
I'm trying to start yet another new thing for JDC. It's called, you guessed it, "Epic DUEL" and it takes place after a main event like AYCR, JB, or something like that. This Epic DUEL will pit two players against one another in level which allows for spectators to watch but not interfere. As for those allowed to watch the duel, that will depend on what our competitors agree to (and in this case, that would be Dragoon and NeoBlaze). However in future Epic DUELs, anyone will be allowed to watch, just so you know.
Moreover, I'll make an attempt to give what the people want in terms of future matchups, possibly with a few threads on the JCF. There might even be a duel involving Diz and/or FireSworD. Who knows? That might all depend on this upcoming event, though. If this Epic DUEL thing does catch on, it would be best to have it only once a week.
BTW, for those who read the event listing early, I changed it a little bit so you might want to check it out again.
Update: The event went well enough, aside from me being to idle to really play and there only being two rounds in the main game. The Epic DUEL afterwards was good enough. I can't really complain about this event. |

Euro Assassination Event - June 28, 2004 - 12:38 PM
|
 |
Europeans - don't forget! Today, we are going to play the second euro event for this season, the gametype is "Classic Assassination". Our event will begin at 16:00 GMT, I say it again - be there! Password must be thisisapigpen, remember this and then you won't ask unnecessary questions.
I'm not sure at all that we can do any time changes, I already announced everyone three days in advance and none complained and\or said it is too late for him. By the way, if you don't know how to play Classic Assassination, you can check its description there.
Now, I can just wish good luck to all the competitors, and remember - the highest prize for this event is about 30 points! ;)
Edit: The event didn't go well at all. The triggers didn't effect all the players because of lag and we had to play Jailbreak instead of it. Everyone had to go when we finished this. Thanks for all the competitors and I hope the next euro event will be better.
Edit #2: I couldn't make a rawscores file because we only played one round which was Jailbreak. Anyway, scores are posted. Congratulations for the winners, or something. |

Fixes - June 25, 2004 - 10:40 PM
|

All the problems mentioned in the last post have been fixed. Unfortunately, one of the problems was a rather large oversight that Bobby and I made regarding the calculations used to determine the quality stat. And because of that, a few scores for round 2 have been changed a bit (but not too much).
We apologise for any problems this has caused, but they are (hopefully) all fixed now. The quality stat is working as it was intended to now, and the news comments are working. |

An important notice, and news comments - June 25, 2004 - 6:12 AM
|
 |
JDC has news comments now. Try it out and see what you think of it. Post comments. Have fun.
Edit: If you encounter any problems be sure to tell me quickly! (-Bobby)
Now for the important notice:
We've noticed that some people seem to be dueling non jj2 players, ie people that they know from school or whatever. Getting people to sign up to jdc just so you can have an easy duel is not allowed, and those duels will eventually be deleted. One user has been banned temporarally due to an excessive amount of this. Several other users are also suspected to be doing duels like this, but not enough to be banned yet.
Why is this disallowed? Well, for one thing it is completely unfair. You are supposed to duel JJ2 PLAYERS. Also, it is difficult to tell the difference between you dueling people you know and plain cheating.
We are aware that some of you have done duels like this out of simply not knowing that it is disallowed. Because of this, if you contact an admin about fake/unfair duels (meaning duels that are fake or against people who don't play jj2) you have done, you will not be punished for it. The duels will, however, be deleted. Your other duels will not be, though, and you will be allowed to continue playing in JDC.
We will be deleting the unfair duels in the database later on. For now, help us find the ones that have not been detected. Contact us before we contact you.
Also, the round has been changed. Congrats R3ptile. We've had lots of dueling in this round it's quite a good sign. We're all pleased to see JDC active for yet another season. If you find any errors report them ASAP since Bobby is going away for a couple of weeks so any problems on the website itself will not be able to be fixed.
Update: Ugh. I've noticed some problems with news comments and the opponent quality... mainly there seems to be some problems with viewing comments and the quality stat isn't showing quite right. These will be fixed tomorrow hopefully. Sorry. |

I'll be trying to run a tournament every Tuesday throughout the entire JDC season. I'll be the only one running Tournament Tuesday and hosting the Well Tournament levels unless I designate someone else to do so on a particular week. Whenever possible, the stats will be updated live when the TT server is official up and running so that everyone can know what's going on and who's up next. I'll also try to hold the tourney at a different time of the day every week so that everyone can participate eventually. If someone else wants to run another weekly tournament, be my guest. I enjoy competition.
Edit: In case you haven't read more about today's event yet, get live stats here when the server is up, and read more about WT here. |

Some minor changes - June 21, 2004 - 8:33 AM
|
 |
If you look to the stats frame on the left, you may notice that the Round Total link has been replaced with Player Quality, and the content of the window is different now. This was done to make it possible for you to list users by their "quality" stat in an easy way. Since we are still on round 1, the window won't display anything (and thus, everyones quality stat is currently at 0%).
We replaced the Round Total window because it was designed to do the same thing, but it didn't do it as effectively.
Just to make things clear, the calculations for the actual stat have not changed. |

JDC has its very own shiny IRC channel - June 20, 2004 - 8:34 PM

Channel #jdc on Quakenet is what you should be looking for. It should be useful for people to find opponents for their duels, or to contact officials to add 2vs2s and other stuff. Just so you don't need to start some private messaging madness on J2O. Trafton has made a topic about it on the JCF which can be found here
Euro opening event scores have been posted. So you can stop gnawing off my leg now. Detailed scores will be added tomorrow when I'm home, since my connection here keeps refusing to upload them.
Update by Mike: Scores uploaded. |

Season 9 event scores
First off, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the opening event. The only problem was a full server. Sorry to any of you who couldn't make it. The game went much better than I expected it would. People all listened to the rules, played fairly, and most people had a good time. Since it's the opening event and all, I gave everyone 3 bonus points. I hope every event will be as good as this one. Congratulations to BlurredD, who won with 53 points. Also, congratulations to Labratkid for getting the first score in season 9.
Dueling has been activated. There are some scoring changes that are in place, and as always you need to know the rules. Please visit the information page to know more. So, let the dueling begin. 2vs2's included.
For officials: Regarding 3 on 3's and other spontaneous events, you are all welcome to host, moderate, upload them and whatever. If you are going to run a large event, please try post it in the event listings at least 24 hours in advance and make sure you upload the raw scores to the /levels/rawscores/season9 directory along with posting them normally. Small or spontaneous events do not need to go in that directory. Also, please try to limit how many 3 on 3 games and other small events people do. Last season it got out of hand. Try not to allow a person to do more than 1 of those a day. I don't want to wind up having to delete events. |

Also, we have arranged a euro event for sunday; see the events page for more info.
The file is here.

JDC Season 9 - June 18, 2004 - 2:16 AM
|
 |
Copied from jazz2online news page
A new JDC season is slated to begin this Saturday, on the 19th of June. There have been a few changes to the site, as well as the tournament in general. Among the changes are a faster database (so it doesn't take you forever to submit duels), a files page and a few scoring changes which should make it easier to get points and make it farer. You can read the new information here.
All exsiting user accounts have been deactivated. To reactivate your account, you simply have to log in. The system will then add your name to the active users list. You do not have to make a new account. If you forgot your password, please contact me or another JDC admin so we can change it for you. You have to have an active account to participate, so please log in now if you plan on playing in JDC. |

X Reset active users so you appear in list only when active
X Make User List show active only by default (make option to show either category)
X Decide on start date (June 19)
- Add best streak to Round/Round Total(?) (what do you think?)
X Do something with level/ dir
X Restore old FTP accounts from JDC (are there others?)
X Put Season 6 online
X Finish info page
- Maybe make a better news archive system so you can search by season
- Contact all old officials/admins and find new ones - especially for European events
- Add a field for different event types, {Main North American Event, Main European Event, Spontaneous Event, Player Made Event, 3on3, 4on4}
X Reduce the number of queries being used
- Add news comment ability |
