our former Veep This is where I'll put things that you can look at. They
might be interesting things I've found around the net (although I'll keep
links in a separate area), silly things I've put together, various images,
maybe some sounds and quicktime movies...who knows! The files come from
many sources (and many computer types); please let me know if there's anything

Mitch's Photo Album a more orderly collection of images. I feel empty inside
not in my stomach but in my soul. The hole is like an aggravated ulcer
that keeps growing, tearing me apart. I wish I could fill it with something
meaningful. Woodchips or styrofoam peanuts would make a fine start. Right
now all I have to patch the tear is cigarette smoke and confusion. Confusion
isn’t as sticky as one might think – so, as patches go, it’s not very cohesive.
It’s slippery and difficult to control. It’s a whirly-gig of wandering
eyes, paranoid thoughts, sweaty palms, and dry mouth. What I’m not confused
about is that one day I’m going to mount a high powered, high velocity
projectile weapon to my car. Then I will blow up those that earn my wrath
by driving like a moron. Generally speaking, morons deserve to be blown
up or, at the very least, eaten by a flock of starved pigeons. Perhaps
dipped in boiling honey and covered in beavers. The possibilities are endless.
Why, right now, I’m betting the most effective way to get a moron’s attention
is with a righteous brick to the grill piece. Trying chewing with no teeth,
you idiot. My roommate knows a guy. Seriously, he does. But what’s remarkable
about this guy is what happened to him several years ago. See, this guy
was dating this girl. Really, it’s true. And one day, or over the course
of several days, or through the happenings of some particular set of circumstances
that aren’t wholly clear to me, pissed this girl off big time. One night
he was sleeping (by describing his sleep, a function common to all people,
I bring you – the reader – closer to the story and hence more personal
for all – you monkey). By sleep I mean it was evening and he was not conscious.
In the middle of the night his girlfriend arose from bed and went to the
kitchen. There she would find a stove, a faucet, a pot, and a container
of grits. She proceeded to prepare her grits. Having completed the grits,
she took the fresh and steaming pot of creamy goodness to her bedroom.
Oh boy! I bet them grits were tasty. And they were, so I assume. However,
in order to find out we’d have to ask her disfigured boyfriend seeing as
she’s incarcerated. Why hadn’t I mentioned that the boyfriend was disfigured
at the beginning of my yarn, you ask? Because at the start of this story
he was not disfigured. In a rage that must have built for some time
in her twisted mind, she dumped a pot of boiling, roiling hot grits on
her sleeping boyfriend’s head. As you can imagine, he awoke in hell-bent
agony, screaming at the top of his lungs in a castrato imitation to put
Michael Jackson to shame. Oh boy! I bet them grits were tasty! But the
world may never know.Sometimes I feel false, like an imposter of honest
living. What I mean is I’m not always confident my thoughts are my own.
Am I regurgitating what pop culture crams down my gullet? Or maybe my silent
rebellion against the system, and shopping malls, and most people with
hair, is some poser attitude I picked up from reading some youth inspiring
punk-zine. That makes me a fake, right? I suppose not everything pop culture
is bad. Ironically within our society we are ingrained with the ideal to
be individualistic yet most people try to emulate what’s trendy. What’s
up with that? Really, I don’t care to fit in if it means losing part of
who I am. Unless, I guess, fitting in was a part of who I am in which case
makes this whole thing moot. And where the hell is downtown Julie Brown?
She’s worthless, metaphysically speaking. With that aside, dumpling, I’m
not much of anything. I’m ordinary beyond extreme except in my head where
no one has access and even I have to pay a cover charge. Boy, that statement
is depressing. That’s why people commit suicide: the price for all access
is much too high. Thinking comes at a cost when you’re smarter than the
average bear, I believe. I paid mine with my fair share of drug use and
emotional immaturity. Drugs should be legal and therapy should be mandatory.
So what have we learned from today’s installment of rant and drivel? Well,
I, like most of you, have severe mental problems. We should all be who
we are, whatever that is or means, regardless the popular consensus, even
if that means you are part of the popular ideal. And, most importantly,
while you’re sleeping … Hot grits are bad. Uncle Bob's Kid's Page Lots

any new posts in ages. I'm taking it upon myself to make one - however
pointless it may be!) Ok... I'm feeling incredibly left out of the whole
"cyber world" by not having a cam. The issue is, I just spent over $200
on my Formal this past week and I'm going on a grad trip June 30 that's
gonna cost a whole bunch more money. Plus I have tuition to start paying
soon and no job this summer. (yeah, that was a good plan!) Sooo, anyone
wanna buy and mail me a webcam? please? ...you know you want to! Mad Hatter

to begin with, and my cam pushed me over the edge. I'd totally buy
you a cam if I had the cheese for it, Danielle. You are deliciously adorable.

is a deliciously adorable cheese... Or thats at least what i got out of
Spiffs post. A while back I wrote a column extolling the joys of forwarded
e-mail--the jokes, the weird news items, the inspirational stories that,
judging by the trail of forwarded addresses, live a more lively social
life than most of my human acquaintances. However, it has come to my attention
that some people just don't know when to quit. And so it's time for
a Kiss My ASCII educational interlude. For the edification of my correspondents,
for the convenience of my readers, and for the love of Pete, allow me to
present a simple, easy-to-follow guide to what does NOT belong in my mailbox.
*Going postal. The US Postal Service wants to tax every single e-mail you
get (5 cents per piece, according to Bill 602P), and congressman Tony Schnell
has suggested an additional $20-$40 surcharge on all Net service above
and beyond that. I know this because Kate Turner, an assistant to Richard
Stepp of Berger, Stepp, & Gorman (Attorneys at Law, Vienna, VA) sent
out a message that lands in my mailbox about once a week. This would be
useful data, except that 602P isn't Federal bill nomenclature, there's
no Tony Schnell in the House or the Senate, there's no such firm as Berger,
Stepp, & Gorman, and the US Postal Service has enough trouble getting
a one-cent stamp increase, let alone something like this. Again: NO ONE
WANTS TO SURCHARGE YOUR E-MAIL, though the people who forward this ought
to keep a nervous eye out for the long-overdue stupidity tax. *Mickey for
nothing and your pants for free. Conversely, Microsoft and Disney do not
want to give you a free trip to Disneyworld for forwarding e-mail. The
Gap and Abercrombie and Fitch do not want to give you cargo pants for forwarding
e-mail. No large company has banded with any other large company to give
away the stuff they've made their fortunes with for forwarding e-mail.
Deep in your heart you know this. *Millennialist hysteria. This may be
a personal affliction--write about the government and privacy a few dozen
times and the black-helicopter crowd will tattoo your e-mail address on
their foreheads--but would the people sending the "YOU HAVE THREE MONTHS
TO LIVE!!!" and "WHEN EVERYBODY STARTS EATING EACH OTHER" stuff please
give it up already? By now anyone truly frightened about Y2K has retreated
to their reinforced underground bunkers with their MREs and their water-purification
tablets. The rest of us are just going to have to tough it out with Dick
Clark, overpriced restaurant reservations, and cheesy 01-01-00 merchandise.
Either way, stop pestering me. If you really think it's going to go that
badly, why not let natural selection take its course? *No-newsletters.
What does it take to get off the RealNetworks, UBL, CitySearch, and broadcast.com
mailing lists? It's obviously beyond the power of a mere "unsubscribe"
message; I've done everything short of gnawing off a foot to escape, but
no dice. One day we'll have a Direct Marketing Association-style agency
to which we can complain about these things, but for now, once you're on
one of these lists you're at the mercy of the competence of the person
who set up the list in the first place. If that person is within the sound
of my voice, please: Remove, unsub, farewell, goodbye. *Spam. Alternative-medicine
cancer cures, bulk-mailing address lists, credit-card merchant accounts,
male sexual dysfunction drugs, paper products, weight loss programs, zero-down
repossessed vehicles for sale--from A to Z, a list of crap I wouldn't buy
from my best friend, much less some idiot over e-mail. In the eloquent
words of a Usenet pal, "please go kill yourselves; you're too stupid to
live." Seriously. Die. I have nothing funny to say about you. *Virtual
knick-knacks. ASCII art is a noble art form, but Leonardo dot-Vinci couldn't
redeem the cavalcade of snowballs, teddy bears, roses, and other things
that ought to remain strictly nonvirtual. Worse, most of them come with
a request to send the mail back to whomever sent it as proof that oo wuv
'em too. I love my mom, but every time she sends me one of these things
I feel like I'm being forced to take a loyalty oath. (Worse, my mom forwards
two kinds of messages: these things and dirty jokes. Either way I get scared
when I see her e-mail arrive.) I know I've missed plenty of offenders,
though they have not missed me. However, if this eliminates even a little
bit of junk from your mailbox or mine I'll count my job well done. And
I'll really know I've made a hit if I see this--yes--forwarded to me in
e-mail. Send a Letter to the Editor about this story. E-mail this story
to a friend. Everyone has a wish list, so here's ours. The idea we had
was that maybe there's someone out there who likes our music, or just likes
helping people out, or is independently wealthy and needs to give some
deserving young artist's a much needed gift, that's where we come in. This
is a list of stuff we need. Be it to help us get on tour and get to your
town faster or to just help us get the sounds we need; obtaining these
items would mean we could spend more of the precious hours in each day
crafting songs and playing shows, which is what Climber is all about. So
if you have any of this stuff laying around the house, gathering dust and
just taking up space (or if you know someone who does!) please contact
us right away and let's figure out how to get the stuff in the Climber
arsenal :) Of course we're poor musicians, but we've got strong backs and
creative minds, so I'm sure we can work out non-monetary ways of repayment.
So please, contact us right away!! Thank you and much Luv! -CLIMBER So
here it is, the aforementioned Wish List: Guitars (and Bass's) - Okay,
I know what you're thinking, 'how in the hell can you be in a band and
not have a guitar?' well, the truth is, we do have them. But as any house
painter knows, there's more than one shade of white paint. Same thing with
guitars. Every guitar sounds a little different, and since we can't afford
to buy them all, we'll need you to search the house high and low for any
guitars that maybe Mom put in the attic years ago cause she couldn't 'stand
all that racket!' Grandma's attic might be a good place to look as well,
and we all know you don't get over as often as you should, so this is the
perfect excuse to just drop in and have some lemonade and cookies! Unlike
our plea for a van, it doesn't matter if the guitar works, we'll take 'em
in any condition you got 'em. :) Organs and Keyboards - "What do these
guys need organs for? They ain't got no organs on they records!" Very true!
But that will change over time. Climber loves the sound of a nice B-3 organ,
or even a cheesy Casio, we love it all (Check out The Dismemberment Plan
for cheesy keyboards used in a genius manner). Now we all know that there
must be a million keyboards laying around the good old U-S of A, man it
seems like everyone and their brother had one of those suckers when they
were in Jr. High. But the question is, "What happened to them all?" We'll
we'd like to know the answer to this question just as much as your boy/girlfriend
would love to get rid of that stupid keyboard you never play that has been
sitting on the coffee table since you starting dating two tears ago. I
mean come on, does it even work? Really, do you remember the last time
you played it? Well we don't either. So bite the bullet, make her/him happy,
and just send the damn keyboard to us. You'll thank yourself for it in
the morning. Stompboxes and pedals - The Milkbox, the BOSS Flanger, the
Rat pedal, come on, admit it, you used to not only own these gems, you
used them when your old band from college played out at the local Buck-a-Pitcher
bar. I know, you were too embarrassed to try to sell them back to the guitar
store (I mean really, a flanger pedal, what were you thinking?!?) and even
your younger brother/sister/cousin/nephew/neighbor wouldn't be caught dead
using them, but Climber would!!! That's right, we love pedals. We can't
get enough of them, so forget ebay, no one would actually buy those things
anyway, but if you give them to us, we'll put them to good use and make
sure you get credit for bringing them into our family. Send use your picture
with all the pedals you send us and we'll put it on our website!a digital
camera - Well, this one will take a bold move from someone who really has
money to burn (read: owns a dot.com company that recently went public)
or is on a mission to piss off their parents (by sending some dumb band
a brand new digital camera that they just gave you for you're birthday
even though you made it clear all you really wanted was a measly 2001 PT
Cruiser, I mean come on, it's not like you were asking for a 'Vette or
something!) Wait a minute, you can't play a digital camera can you? We
thought this over and even though the vote was 3-2, we've decided that
you can't play a digital camera (unless you're in the Anniversary or in
the D-Plan). But what you can do is take tons of pictures and put them
right on the website which in the end benefits everyone! See, we'd love
to have you all here with us 24 hours a day to party and play rock and
roll, but the van your parents are giving us (see our first wish) isn't
big enough for everyone, so a digital camera will keep everyone as close
to the action as you can get without having to smell Joey. Laptop computer
and a scanner - All right, I know what you're thinking at this point, 'Who
the hell do these kids think they are anyway, asking for all this stuff,
why don't they just go out and get some jobs like the rest of us!!!' Well,
the Climber camp wholeheartedly agrees. So in addition to our full time
jobs, we've all decided to get second jobs to help pay the shipping cost
of all this stuff you guys are sending us. So look for us soon in our new
80's pop cover band: HorseShit Sally. Really though, this is the angle
we're taking on this one: With new technology popping up everyday, there's
must be a whole shit-ton of yesterday's model laying around the office
collecting dust, and really, how productive is that? Surly there's someone
out there right now who's at work at some stupid mega-corporation with
billions and billions of dollars in assets checking out our website on
company time (and since they know your every keystroke, you'll soon be
getting fired for wasting company time). So as a final gesture, why not
liberate an old hotrod laptop and scanner that they can't use anymore cause
it's not the 2002 model and send it to us. It'll be our little secret and
we'll name our neighbors new kid after you! a rockin' P.A. - Though you
might not know it by listening to Joey shred his vocal cords, we actually
try to sing well. Doing this without being able to hear yourself at practice
is pretty near impossible. At the moment we are singing through a couple
of guitar amps and every once in a while someone will let us borrow a PA,
but that's pretty rare. Now singing in tune isn't a prerequisite for all
bands, but we'd like to at least be in the same ball park as the chords
our hands are playing; so a PA that can cut through the swarm of noise
that our amps make is required. So we thought, somewhere out there there's
a guy who used to be in a band and one thing led to another and the next
thing you know he's got a really killer wife and a bright little kid and
that old PA that used to get so much use is being used as a plant holder
or even worse, a coffee table. Don't let that PA go to waste, UPS it to
us today! Our vocal coach will personally cook you dinner and Climber will
wash your cars and baby-sit once a month for a year in exchange. a Trailer
- Sure U-Haul will rent them out for $10 bucks a day, but that's expensive
if you're going to go out on tour for two and three weeks at a time! And
that's Climber goal at the moment; to become a full time touring band.
The one thing a full time touring band needs besides gas/merch/good songs/fans/a
place to sleep/clean underwear/and hearing aids is, a trailer. When we've
got a 36 hour drive from SanFran to St. Lou, we'll need places for everyone
to sleep (cause we can't afford hotels!) and buy putting all the equipment
in the trailer, we'll have room for everyone to sleep in the van your aunt
and uncle gave us! a Booking Agent - What does this have to do with the
average reader of all this nonsense? Not much. But odds are that one of
you know (or are dating, related to, working for, or are owed money by)
a booking agent. What a hook up that would be if your cousin happened to
be a really good booking agent and you happened to insist that they start
booking Climber! Believe me, in a couple years they'd be naming their first
born after you, at least, we hope things work out that way! So, as soon
as the van and trailer arrive, we'll need to go on tour. Even though we
know how to book shows, it's hard to find the time when you're out there
playing 200 plus shows a year (which is what we hope to be doing soon!)
So give your old roommate from college a call and tell them to join the
Climber team! Recording and electronic equipment - 4-tracks, 8-tracks,
ADAT's and Reel to Reel, we'll take 'em! Climber is actively recording
all the time. At the moment we use a Tascam 4-track and Ted's computer,
but we'd like to use any available hardware we can. Recently Ted found
an old reverb box at a thrift store and it works! Plus it has really cool
lights on it that really serve no function but enhance the thing right
nice. This is the kind of stuff we're talking about here. Maybe you've
got an old reel to reel recorder that your father bought in the 70's, or
maybe you've got a couple of ADAT's that for some reason you want to give
away. The point is, we'll take it. And really who knows how good they'll
sound, but if we suck, then we can blame it on the equipment! Record label
- Now let's be serious, we're not asking you to send us a record label.
I mean really, would UPS even deliver one? I don't think the A&R guys
would like being in a box that much, oh wait a minute, I take that back.
Of course if you've got a spare record label you don't need anymore and
you want to pass it on, hell give us a ring. But what we're thinking is
that again, maybe your Dad happens to run a record label and is looking
for a new band that doesn't really want to be a 'cowboy baby.' Or maybe
your sister's girlfriend works at this label in Seattle and is looking
to put out a record by some band that's not an' all-star gettin' our game
on,' though we can do that if we need too. More importantly, maybe you
work at a label and would like to sign a band that is willing to bust ass,
tour like crazy, put out a record every year and a half, who will won't
implode in six months and who can put on a rockin' live show. If that's
what you're looking for, Climber's your crew. General Interest - Okay this
one's totally an open field. What we're thinking about for this one is,
maybe you're not ready to make the big commitment of sending a record label
or a '79 Les Paul Custom just yet; but you still want to try it out and
see how it feels. Than this friends, is the category for you. What follows
is a list of crap we're into or that we collect or use and can't afford
to buy, so if you're feeling saucy and would like to test the old US Postal
system, wrap something up and send it our way! Julie is fond of all things
PEZ related. She likes movies, CD's by bands like No Knife, and pictures
of David Hassalhoff nude. Ted likes all things Star Wars and Lego, and
any thing recording related. Heather and Joey love guitar pedals and photography.
I'm not sure what Drew is into, I'll have to ask him (but someone pointed
out that if you put the names of our two drummers together you get Ted
Drew's, home of the worlds best frozen custard!!) Everyone in Climber loves
to read, so send a good book with your next merch order, we can reuse the
box to send your order back! Most importantly come out and see us play
live, you'll be glad you did, and so will we! Thanks again for spending
the three and three/fourths minutes it took to read this page and let me
apologize for the weeks of bewilderment that's sure to ensue as you try
to decide whether to send the van or to just send six digit cashier's checks
(let me save you the trouble of choosing, just send both)! As always, thank
you for dropping by and leave a message on the Guestbook won't you! luv-
