Description

Hello once again, fellow Jazzers :)

This is The Twilight Park, my 12th tileset. It’s a combination of two themes, a park and a backyard. You get to build your levels with loads of essential and eyecandy tiles. Most importantly, there is a series of tiles to make swimming pools and of course, water to them! Twilight Park has a more carefully made palette than the tilesets before. I have also paid attention to the tileset’s user friendliness.

The zip package comes with a single player example level. I hope you enjoy it!

P.S.: A screenshot of the example level can be viewed at JCF:

Starting comments
I’ve been waiting for the new Blade set since I saw the preview screens. Here goes my rating.

Looks (General)
Apart for being a cool concept for a tileset, this tileset looks great, as we’re used to coming from Blade. Personally, I like the paved ground tiles best.

Easy to use?
This tileset is ordered in a more logical way than Islands… =P It’s indeed very easy to use and has plenty of possibilities.

Eyecandy
This tileset has loads of eyecandy. From wooden fences to flickering streetlights to breeding birds. This tileset has everything you might possibly encounter in a park (Exept UFO’s). The background looks sweet, the layer 5/6/7 tiles looks sweet, the pipes look awesome. Good job.

Example level
The example level gives a great idea of the whole tileset. It shows many eyecandy tiles, as well as logical structure required for any level. The example level makes even newcomers handy in using this tileset. And, just to finish it, the best Urban music file I ever heard is included with the level (Although Streetwize (City1g.it) comes close…)

Overall
This tileset is ideal to use in any town-like episode. I would like to see some good levels with this. Might even consider picking up my JCS again… =D

Score
This is one of the best tilesets that I know (so far), so I’ll rate this as one of the best tilesets. You’ll get a 9 from me. And, because of the cool example level and music, make that a 9 point 5! And, ofcourse, Download Recommendation. Everyone should have this tileset.

Further comment
I’d love to see another tileset anytime soon. :) If I was gay, I’d love you.

A long overdue review to a deserving tileset.

To start off the review, this set just demonstrates that Blade keeps getting better. I love the atmosphere the tileset is able to provide and the cartoonish appearance of it. There are many tiles provided for some spiffy eyecandy (posters on fences, stuff buried in the ground (although I would question the sanity of anyone deciding to bury a SHOVEL)) and you can make some nice things with it. The tileset is fairly straightforward and easy to use. Some tile placements may daunt you a bit, but you can quickly learn how to use all parts of the set properly. Poles, destruct blocks, tubes, hooks, everything is included in the set, even pools enabling water (although I personally would only accompany those tiles with Water Blocks). The masking is nicely done, although I have a personal dislike for really tight tubes and crawling into them in jj2 =P. Oh, and I also really like the backround and the way it is made, it really does remind me of a calm night in a park located near a big city.

Overall, this is a really good set and I wouldn’t be surprised to see several levels using it. The zip even comes with a nice, quick single player level which is not only enjoyable but also shows off the set. The only thing preventing me from rating this higher is that because of the cartoonish way Blade approached the set in, it doesn’t have as many details as other tilesets like 7th lava fall or Egypt. Nonetheless, it is a great set and definately worth the download

Edit: On second thought, i’m upgrading the rating by a bit because I’ve looked back and I think the set deserves it. GG.

The next tileset of Blade! I downloaded this, because I was wondering, how it can be good. I was ready for next amazing tileset, but I was some suprised! First is background. I think, that Blade did a profesional landscape, (except “only trees” layer), because it was giving good atmosphere… it have something strange and romantic. I like this. The best elements of background is lamps. This light betwen tres is the best. But other layer aren’t good as background. The main layer was too simple, and too fast-maked. In addition to this, Blade schould make more horizontal levels, becaues this not shows true benefits of this Tileset. Colors are good make. Both background and sky are super, but neither “City” layer and main layer are not good make as well. For example, Blade schould make more darkness main layer, and he should avoid “big black cubes”. I thin, that tileset will be good, if author correct this bugs. In overral this is not bad tileset. Anybody should download this to see a wonedrful park in background. Also it is intrestin, because there are al ot of my fauvorite eyecandy (bones in undground) and others. That’s all.

Short
Background: Good
4 Layer: Average…
Overral: 8

I’m not going to rate this in my usual way but this is 10x better than Disguises Mega Metropolis. Eyecandy tiles for the backround and foreground and colours mix in with the atmosphere.
The tileset has also a strange feel to it.

Its a 9.7 from me.

EDIT: Great example level too.

Geez, people. You’ll probably kill me for saying this, but I honestly think this set is a wee bit overrated…

The Twilight Park is a city tileset, a genre of sets that often gets little to no attention. It’s too bad, since metropolis/town/city sets are among my very favorites.

Unfortunately, tilesets like Twilight Park, while very good and loads of fun to use, are the reason why city sets are so infrequently done (And done well, too).

TTP has the usual whimsical Blur eyecandy (Random items buried in the ground, a doghouse with accompanying dog bowl, silly posters slapped onto a junky old alley fence, etc.), plus some unexpected surprises (A swimming pool, gardening tools sticking out of the ground as “thorns”, a small background red brick wall). Well-trimmed trees provoke intriguing visual ideas, while a background dominated by grassy parkland and distant skyscrapers lend Twilight Park a very suburbian feel.

Unfortunately, things started to fizzle out at about this point.

While all of the pluses I mentioned are nice, they’re really all there is to work with in this tileset. I mean, there’s a few more tiles than what I mentioned, but the greater extent of the set is devoted to The Average Joe’s Backyard.

The dirt is the only real “ground” material available to work with (Although, in its defense, there are two or three different surfaces for the dirt that are perfectly usable). Despite being a suburb-esque pack, there’s not even any houses or apartment buildings. Only one fencing material is at the JCSer’s disposal (And wooden fences get very old after a while). There’s no black tiles. No “cave” wall tiles (unless you count the fence, which I don’t).

Parks and naturalistic scenery can only go so far, and I have some rather serious concerns about the limitations of this set.

Don’t get me wrong, Twilight Park’s a great set and all. It has bodaciously good eyecandy and truckloads of JCSing potential…but good is only so good these days. I felt a little let down by the limitations of the set.

Still, Twilight Park IS a sweet tileset, and it’s definitely worth a download.

WOW! What a rich tileset! You made a really good job! There are a lot of beautifications and realistic things. And the background with those skyscrapers is wonderful. I hope this set will have the best ever rating!

Ofcourse! There is a lot of eyecandy. There are things underearth, such as the telephone, the toys etc. It’s also 1.23 compatible and the textured sky works even in TSF. Other users made skies in 1.23 those weren’t compatible with TSF (maybe because 1.23 uses more indexes). I think that Blade only could make WONDERS like this. Not even Disguise’s city tilesets (one of them was exactly made for Blade) were wonderful and full of eyecandy and fun like this (no offense for the master Disguise).

(Unsupported rating (10) removal. Despite my best efforts in searching, the only truly relevant parts of the above block of text seemed to be that it wasn’t drowned drawn in paint and that it was very good. This review shows a good sense of the value of comparison, but you mention a lot of other things and don’t really say much about the actual upload. By reading this review, I would not have even the faintest notion regarding the nature and appearance of the upload.
For future reference, it doesn’t hurt to know what it is you’re reviewing. A level is not a tileset. ~Violet)
