Description

Kinky City is a single player level which was made by using the tileset 7th lavafall. I worked hard on the design and the lay-out, so I hope you’ll all like it. Well erhhm, ENJOY!

Well, i have to say this is a really cool level.I really liked the tileset you would almost think this is an original tileset from Jazz 1. Reminds me of an upgraded technoir level which is a very good thing for me since technoir is my favorite from Jazz 1.The items were also well placed though I have to mention the level lacked secrets and gems.

Well, i certainly enjoyed it :)

This is a very good SP level by F!re, which uses the 7th Lava Fall set and custom music (naranja.xm, i don’t think Aiko will say this tune fits here ;)).

First, the eye candy:
The level has a pretty good background (the red fog and the buildings), altough i wish there was no Textured Background (i play in 8-bit you know). In the level the eye candy is pretty changy.

Level in general:
The level has some nice features, like looking for trigger crates. And the level is pretty long. There aren’t many enemies, so put some more in your next levels, F!re. The Bolly (Medivo boss) is waiting for you at the end, but F!re appearantly forgot the Limit X-scroll event.

Conclusion:
A download recommendation from me. I enjoyed playing this level and i know you will too :)

It’s too easy :P I didn’t even die once.

Well, I think anything less than blindingly difficult to be too easy. So no points lost there :P

I think that you really need to adress the layout problems… I find using warps to move around tacky, and sucker tubes would have worked way better. I would also like to see some more routes going throughout the level, instead of one set path.

Otherwise, this level had a good variety of challenges, and enimies were used properly.

And the music IS unfitting. I also think that the kind of music used in this level should DIY! That’s more of a personal thing though.

Long story short…

Eyecandy: 4.0/5.0
Mode of play: 1.0/1.0
Gameplay: 1.0/1.0
Music: 0.5/1.0
Tileset: 2.0/2.0

Add it up and it’s a 8.5.

“Kinky City” uses the awesome, mindblowing, breathtaking, superb “7th Lava Fall” tileset by Mr. DethMan, which was definitely a good idea because that set is underused.
Despite the fact that there are some places that seem to be a bit empty (that may as well be a wrong impression, i don’t know), the overall level design is very good. Enemy and obstacle placement is also well made, only the difficulty level could be a tad harder. Another enjoyable aspect is the lenght of the level: very good. It takes at least ten minutes to make it through the whole level.
“Kinky City” also includes a nice swedish FT module as a background music, but as JelZe already hinted, it unfortunately sounds kinda ridiculous for this level, sorry. The “happy rock’n‘roll” mood doesn’t fit too well here i think.

All in all, a very decent single player map using a great custom tileset. Most people will like it so DOWNLOAD NOW!

This is a strangely-named level, but nonetheless a quality one. The only fault I may find with it is that it is perhaps too easy. I beat it quite easily, and did not die even once. Still, that is not of as much importance as the overall quality of level is, so I will dwell on that no longer.

This level uses “7th Lava Fall” by Dethman. This tileset is indeed quite good and well-done, and this trancends into the level’s overall eyecandy. Eyecandy in general looks nice and shows some degree of though in addition to the normal plain everyday tiles. The eyecandy is not spectacular, but is still very well-done.

As I said earlier, the gameplay of this level is perhaps a bit too easy for most. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case, it may be a bit offputting for those who are significantly experienced at Jazz Jackrabbit 2. There are not too many enemies and there are many oppurtunities in which to heal. Still, gameplay is alright and enjoyable in most cases.

Weapon and enemy placement was sufficiently adaquete. Aside from perhaps having too few enemies, there is not much to notate in this section of the rating. The placement of weapons is also nicely done.

What to make of this level? It is indeed a good single player level that will probably be enjoyable to play. While some may dislike the fact that it is, in fact, quite an easy level, if you get past that, it turns into a fun game. There are some oddly-placed warps that make it less fun, too. However, overall, this is still a nice level and worth your playing. As always, happy levelmaking.
