Ok, so we've all figured out by now that, given enough time, you could get an infinite score in the original JJ2 Level pack. So, my challenge to you is to play through the entire JJ2 single player level pack on hard and try to get the lowest score you can, for I believe that a low score is harder to acheive than a high score.

So, to show your ultimate skill at Jazz, post the lowest score you have received whilst playing the entire official single player pack without cheats. That is skill.

Ouch, tough one!

I'm not sure I see how you can get an infinite score, but I think I get it. Maybe I'll work on getting infinity points :D

Infinite score: Go to a level with a 1up, then grab a bunch of stuff then die, and grab the 1up agian and a bunch of stuff and die, and grab the 1up again and a bunch of stuff and died, and...

Not a bad idea. I have some custom .j2e files that I'm too lazy to delete, however, so I can't play through all of JJ2, unfortunately. Usually, I'll try and beat all of JJ2 on hard mode without dying once. If I die, I quit the game. But I only die when fighting Uterus and Devan, anyway, and that's still uncommon. JJ2 SP is too easy.

Hmm, that's what I thought actually.

Just type jjnext on each level. Ta da! You have completed the game with 0 points!

Edit: Oh, wait, didn't read the rest of the post.

Ehehe, it's not as easy as it sounds. I tried it (for about 5 minutes, short attention span strikes again), and there's a lot to it.

You need to avoid any and all goodies, which in turn leads to avoiding all ammo, since that's 100 points alone, which makes it harder to destroy the enemies despite how you try to avoid them, but if you get hit by an enemy you'd need to get carrots, and that's a lot of points there. You also need to use all crates sparingly, and to avoid shooting or stomping too many blocks, as that creates points too.

Enemies that follow you are pretty bad. Float lizards can be dealt with, but others can't really be stopped without killing them.

Oh, and I am taking up this challenge. Playing as spaz on medium mode, no cheats (but a lot of saving).

I am avoiding getting points if it is possible, even if it is extremely hard to do so.

I'm taking screenshots every 2 levels. Once I beat the game I will post them. I have passed episode 1 so far.

But Nobody asked for hard difficulty

I realized that after I had started and I don't really care anyway. Hard mode doesn't really do much to your score, and there are only a few levels where not getting hit is really that important. Besides, I'm not killing a single enemy aside from bosses.

No, because I do it too.
Except at bosses.
And in multiplayer.
And until I reach "A Diamondus Forever." Then, I use the power-upped blaster.

Same. Except I usually use the blaster for bosses, too. ;o

A lot less. I'll post the exact scores when I am done. I am going for minimum possible, give or take 1000 points.

The whole game, of course. Screenshots have been provided. You can see for yourself.

Very nice mike, I'm working on it.

Since you played as Spaz, I'll try my hand at Jazz.

She most certainly did not beat the entire game. A single boss is worth 5000 points.

Playing hard with Jazz I get 48300, about twice that. Hrm... I know I got careless at the end, but I didn't think THAT careless...

I'll try again later

I need to try that out, it sounds fun. =D

Don't feel too save Mike. =P

EDIT:

I've passed the castle and I'm already worse than evil mike.

Level 1 - 450 points (http://people.freenet.de/liljulez/phil/JJ2lowscore1.JPG)

Level 2 - 1950 points (http://people.freenet.de/liljulez/phil/JJ2lowscore2.JPG)

I really wonder how Mike could get a score of only 650.

White Rabbit

You don't actually kill the Queen, she's a rabbit after all. She just gets pushed out of the way. :)

Yeah, but.. how could mike pass the first two levels with only 650 points? I tried everything and only collected what I couldn't avoid, but I don't get it.

Level 3 - 2750 (http://people.freenet.de/liljulez/phil/JJ2lowscore3.JPG)
Level 4 - 8250 (http://people.freenet.de/liljulez/phil/JJ2lowscore4.JPG)

Mike's still better than me. >.>

It makes more sense to just save frequently and use your blaster for every single enemy. That way, after you get a point, load the game before you collected something that would add to your score.

I meant use your blaster on the boss, don't pick up stuff.

How do you get an infinite score on JJ2?

Stijn
May 15, 2005, 09:59 AM
Or even better, don't use your blaster for every enemy. Killing enemies earns you points, you know.

EvilMike

Yeah, but.. how could mike pass the first two levels with only 650 points? I tried everything and only collected what I couldn't avoid, but I don't get it.

1. Don't kill a single enemy.
2. Don't collect a single item. Every item counts.
3. If you can shoot things down to avoid collecting them, do that.
4. If you collect an item by accident, reload.
5. When you DO collect ammo, try to make sure you put it to good use. If you get bouncers, see if you can use them to shoot down other items. Same goes with other types of ammo.

I got to Electric Boogaloo before my save file got corrupt. I had 22650 points then so I wasn't doing that well. Maybe I'll just jjnext to electric boogaloo later and play from there and add up all the new score I get to the 22650 later.

The bouncer thing gave me an idea. Thanks. ^^

I just decided to beat HH98 for fun, and I got 8400. I wonder if anyone could beat me? These levels are pretty much evil when it comes to avoiding goodies.
