Windows ME

Ok, before we do anything, we need to take care of this. Upgrade to at least Win 2000.

512 MB RAM
alot of memory

Uhh... that's the same thing. Unless by "alot of memory" you mean the CPU cache. Or possibly the hard drive space.

Anyways, you should look in Technical Help. I bet you'll get help there.

Okay then, let's start at the basics. Firstly, Windows ME wasn't exactly made for networking, so upgrading to 2000 like Odin suggested might be a good start.

Second, did you try opening your ports?

I have cogeco security services stuff, and have looked into the firewall section, and i open the stats for JJ2 and i see the ports... but the thing is... here are the steps i go thru to check on the ports

1.) open cogeco interface
2.) Firewall, advanced
3.) application control
4.) jj2.exe, details
5.) ive selected allow application and ports (there are 191 ports) for all of them
6.) gone into outbound, UDP and find ONLY 10052 in the allowed (DENIED IS EMPTY FOR ALL OF THEM inbound/outbound TCP + UDP)
7.) also, backtrack... i go into TCP and find 10052, 10053 and 10054 ALLOWED
8.) backtrack to inbound and UDP and find ONLY 10052 allowed
9.) backtrack to TCP and ONLY 10052 is allowed

I hope this helps... but at the moment getting an upgrade is out of the question, i got no $, and most likely no permission ;p

Ignore those who say you should upgrade to Windows 2000. Windows ME is a perfectly fine operating system, and it's unlikely to be the problem.

What you need to do is on your router forward ports 10052-10054 UDP and TCP to your computer's IP address. Exactly how you do this depends on your router, so check the manual and/or online help for it.

What's your computer's IP address?

To find out, go to Start and then Run. Enter winipcfg.exe and hit OK.

my ip address is: 192.168.1.22... but i think it may change slightly.. im not sure

I have gone to http://192.168.1.22 and entered as guest, but i dont know what to do from there

if you dont have a Static router IP then is the Standard IP Adress to conect to your router:192.168.1.1

you can this turn on the Browser or on "run" WITH TELNET
("TELNET 192.168.1.1")

there you can open/close your ports and configurate your Firewall

BTW: the standard PW of the router is usualy "1234" and the name "admin".
if you forgot you changed password then you can reset the router (usualy behind the router with a stick you can make this)

Good luck

Put nothing in the username and "admin" as the password.

You could also try "admin" with no password, or "admin" for both username and password.

And Hare, I repeat my previous statement that Windows ME is a perfectly fine operating system.

Without any discussion, W2K is the most stable Widnows system ever and what is important, it uses NT technology, without which you are like dead.

Many routers have a small hidden button on the back that can only be pressed with a pointed object, if yours has one like that, you could try pushing it with a pen or something for about 30 seconds.
