You just need to work more on hair, the face is very well shaded and all and hair just seem unfinished compared to it.

yep, the hair is obviously unfinished. i didn't draw it, though. i just felt like randomly posting it. yesterday this girl i know (who is also the sweetest, best-looking girl i've ever met (= (=|',',|) randomly sends me that drawing. what's funny is that was apparently the first time she'd ever attempted to draw a person. about a month ago, she drew a cartoon and i was like, hey that looks tight. can you draw people? and she said she'd never tried and just likes to draw cartoons. not bad, i think.

i agree with you, though. the shading does look really good. and that's just a crappy cell phone picture. (i haven't got to see it for real yet..)

Please stop posting drawings of children. Seeing them makes me wonder what's inside your head and I do get some disturbing thoughts. I see paedophilia as something really, really wrong. I'd consult a specialist if I were you.

That, and Gus' signature just shouts "Amen".

And it's not just drawings of children that scare me... it's drawings of (slightly) bigger children on top of smaller children... or sitting on their laps... It's a bit suggestive, if not disturbing.

Also people are free to post whatever they want here as long as it's within forum rules. Pictures of children that are just that are perfectly fine, whatever implications you'd want to draw from them. Pako's is somewhat more risky but still okay, I suppose.

The opposite is true for me. I can't control my mouse well enough, but I can occasionally get some ok results from a pencil. I've never tried a tablet either, so I can't comment on that.

Although I have been playing around with inkscape a bit recently, and it has a couple nice features for mouse drawing that smooth out my pen stroke, then tweak it as a path. Possibly this could correct for my lack of mouse skills.

I think you should make his ears a bit longer. He looks like a dwarf rabbit with those kind of ears really. =/ Other than that, the pic is fine.

On other err...news, I've drawn some Jazz pics, Including some fan characters I made up (no, not recoloured versions of Jazz or whatever, those are crap). If only I had a scanner. =/ I've lost my talent at drawing on the computer. But I think I'll post some "sketch" of Lori I did on MSpaint.

First, find the URL of the image. If it's already online somewhere, you can usually right click the picture on the website, and there should be a "Copy image URL" option. Then click the http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/images/editor/insertimage.gif button and paste the URL into the dialog box. Or, you can just use (IMG)Insert URL Here(/IMG), except with brackets instead of parentheses. Quote this post and look at the text on the little image icon to see what I mean.

If the image is not online, you'll have to upload it somewhere first. There are plenty of free websites that offer this service, like imageshack and majhost. Then, once it's online, follow my previous instructions to post it here.

Someone drew a spirally thing, and told me to make something out of it, so I decided it looked like a ram's horns, and made the charging goat. Then he looked at it when I was done, and so the goat's head looked like a backwards octopus head. And so we ended up with this.

That would be a limitation of Vue. It uses a 2D image of leaves and then randomly places it onto branches in the 3D plane. I tried to make the leaves take up more space to compensate for that and maybe hide the flaw, but it still shows in places where there are less leaves.

A little image I did on my own at school. I'm quite proud of it. I did it on XP MSpaint, which explains why it is rather scratchy looking...actually, there are some people who have the amazing patience to make MSpaint pictures it look smooth though (before the existence of Win 7) , so maybe it's not the best.

The original is at 1024x768, but for some strange reason I decided to use the pencil tool for inking. I'll have to see if there's a filter to smooth out the linework. It might have to wait til later tomorrow though. It depends when I'll have access to my computer.

First i made its in blender, then export it to UDK. The textures are made in Gimp.
Jazz had a lot "bones", face expressions and animations. oh, and ragdolls.
All made by me.

Wow... Those drawings have an almost mechanical precision to them. Gus, is that a brush pen you are using? That's all pen and paper, right?

Sure it is. I used a grid sheet for it, and removed the grids with "Contrast = 200" on Texture Maker.

Well, they're paw pads. Actual rabbits nor hares don't have pawpads though, but in the Jazz-verse they do, apparently. Like the tradition with dog noses on toony rabbits...

It's a new hentai that I'm working on. Not really a hentai, since it isn't anime styled and no nudity is shown or used. So not a hentai at all. Just an erotic cartoon, mainly about hugs, caresses, kisses and a few tongue kisses.

The original is at 1024x768, but for some strange reason I decided to use the pencil tool for inking. I'll have to see if there's a filter to smooth out the linework. It might have to wait til later tomorrow though. It depends when I'll have access to my computer.

Well, that's my picture you've edited and I call him Dark Jazz as well (used to do it without a space, like this: 'DarkJazz', to make it sound more like a scientific project name). I'm kind of the chief of any interest in this boss character, working on a fan comic centered around him and all, so I guess you can just go with it, seeing as the original creators don't seem to care much. Your edit and the paper picture are pretty cool, by the way. :)

I don't recommend imgur. I can see JPEG artefacts which looks ugly on images with low colours (even if it's uploaded as a png, theres some stupid compression system on imgur). I recommend imagesup.net for now. (I recently realised the site I used to recommend has a shady reputation and is NSFW but didn't see them because of adblock. Oh.)

I drew my Jazz head with a mouse entirely. Scanning is tedious because of the resizing required, and I gave up using my graphics tablet long ago and I'm not sure when I'll go back because mine is really unresponsive right now (also I should really get the drivers too instead of default ones). I find the best way to draw with a mouse is to use the zoom tool a lot, and use clean, round and confident lines (you may need the undo function a lot).

A sketch layer may help you to get the proportions better. That's also what I started off with in my Jazz pic. This is why I don't recommend MSpaint, as it lacks layers. Also theres no crazy fur (idk what other way to put it) on the red part.

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to art. In my oppinion, if the art was supposed to look the same way as a certain character and it doesn't, it's a piece of crap. As long as I don't draw a perfect Jazz, my art is terrible.

That's also a terrible mentality. Terrible is a strong word to use. If you think in black and white, you're not going to get very far.

What's in between terrible and perfect? Many things; Very bad, Bad, mediocre, decent, good and great.

The important thing isn't about being as perfect as possible, but seeing and creating progress. Likewise, if someone completely copies official art (aka 50% of deviantart submissions) it may look "perfect" because it "looks the same way as a certain character", but did they really learn how to create good art? Likely not.

I find copied/traced artwork incredibly boring.

If I don't like how my art comes out, I'm not going to be like "UGH THIS IS TERRIBLE" but "What makes it look off, what can I do to improve it and what looks good about it?". I may be an ass at times, though I'm not one of those toxic pessimists, who encourages others to give up, simply because they came out with poor results.

I've also seen several attempts of stylised fanart, and it can look really good, sometimes even better than the official style (though more often than not I think it's just different). I stylise my fanart a little out of preference as I'm not a big fan of fisheye expressions and eyes overlapping.

But I don't think that saying lying about what they think of their own art is a good thing to say either. As everyone has their own preferences and standards.

Ah I remember now. Spaking of that, its bad cause Jazz's secondary (or the light coloured ) fur can't be changed to completely new colour. It always remains lighter shade of main fur.
