There are a lot of levels / planets (in case of JJ1) that their name gives a lot of trouble - how to spell it and how to pronounce it? As I have no idea of how to pronounce them and I have no intention to create a youtube channel where I could record my guesses, I will list all the correct spellings (at least the ones I know). Of course only of the confusing ones, the extra confusing ones are in big size:

Tubelectric, which in JJ2 somehow became Tube Electric, but originally the two words were merged in JJ1. Exactely the same case as with Megairbase.

Turtemple, not Turtlemple.

Nippius, with double "p".

Marbelara, not Marbleara.

Sluggion, with double "g"!

Dreempipes, not Dreampipes!! This is probably one of the most problematic, as majority tend to think it comes from words "Dream Pipes". It would make sense, but for some reason it is "Dreem Pipes", whaever "dreem" means...

Pezrock, not Pezrox.

Crysilis, not Chrysilis, nor Crisilis, Chrisilis etc.

Muckamuk, not Muckamok... The vast majority writes Muckamok, even Haze did so in his coversions of that planet.

Raneforus, not Rainforus or Rainforest (?). Which would be really weird because the orginal planet is more a jungle that a forest and I don't remember any rain there (I believe the only rainy planet was Medivo).

Holidaius, not Holidaeus - which I've even seen Violet CLM himself spelling that planet like this.

Bloxonius, not Bloxinius.

Carrottus - now here I'm not sure... Some of the files have the spelling with 2 "t"s, but the original music files included in JJ2 are spelled only with one "t"...

Colonius, this is the correct full name, not Colon or Colony.

Psych, does this have any lager name?

I believe that's it.

Interesting list, though concerning Raneforus: Rainforests (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainforest).

Stijn - true, didn't think about that.

By the way, does someone have an idea why Deserto in JJ2 official JJ1 tilesets is named "Ihlvndi"?

No idea...

As for which one gives me the most trouble, Megairbase. There are two pronunciations of it that I generally float between: "Meg airbase" and "Mega-airbase". Sure, I should probably stick to "Mega airbase", but the spelling is weird, so I read it as "Meg airbase"

Having said that, Muckamok is also bit annoying.

I think "Nippius" derrives from the word "nippy" which in English culture we use it as a replacement for "cold".

eg.
The weather is somewhat cold today
The weather is somewhat nippy today

Also I think "Psych" is meant to relate to Psychedelics... Hence why everything spins while you touch the smoke ring from the caterpillars and everything looks very hippy/colourful...

I know Technoir is obviously inspired from the scene in the film 'The Terminator' concerning a nightclub called 'Tech Noir'. Heck, even the fences outside of the club are in the tileset!

And as for troublesome names, JJ1 doesn't give me much trouble anymore due to the amount of playtime I spend into that over my life. The only issue with planet names that I recall is spelling Muckamuk as Muckamok at some point. For JJ2, I frequently spelled Carrottus wrong. Outside of filenames, I believe the Epic guys themselves mixed up their spelling too. So I'll just stick with Carrotus most of the time. :p

It's probably a change that happened in the CD version(Kind of like the hoverboard bug in Medivo). The question is, which came first, and -- more importantly -- does it matter?

But Muckamok is from Episode A.

Oh yeah...

Perhaps it was between the original CD version, and the re-released version(The one that supposedly came with JJ2)?

Scraparap is supposed to be a spaceship scrap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrap)-heap, and the developers probably thought the 'arap' part had a nice ring to it. :p

Fanolint is a mix of 'Fan' as in a blowing fan, of which there are lots of in the level, and probably 'Olint (http://www.olint.com/en)' which is a long-running plant breeding company (not officially confirmed).

Yeah, and for a good reason.
Let me show you a quick comparison:

"Carrotus" single-T spelling

Jazz Jackrabbit 1
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 official backstory comic
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 music file
All or nearly all fan content ever made

"Carrottus" double-T spelling

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 tileset title accessible only by using the level edition tool or a hex editor

Single-T "Carrotus" is the official and most common spelling and there's no denying it, even if there happened to be a typo in one of the files included with the sequel to the game.
