As I look into the trademark database of the US, and I search for Jazz Jackrabbit I find three copyrights.

We already knew about the first two. I want to concentrate on the second one. Why did epic register the same name twice? It is because it has two different purposes.

Jazz Jackrabbit 3D and Jazz Jackrabbit both say "Goods and Services: IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: computer game software for personal computers, home video game consoles and arcade based video game consoles. FIRST USE: 19940801. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19940801"

Now the intresting part. The third Jazz Jackrabbit trademark says

Goods and Services: IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: entertainment in the nature of animated TV series

This means that there was, or still is planned a Jazz Jackrabbit TV series. The trademark was first made in March 28, 1997. And the dead/live status still says that the project is alive.
