Well do you even know for sure if you have a router? Because if you don't, you might be on completely the wrong track.

As I said in my other message, check your IP address according to my directions and try going to the router address in your browser. Even if you physically find your router, you can't configure it like that. You have to configure it through its web browser interface.

Try going to these links and see if you get anything:

http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.2.1
http://192.168.1.0
http://192.168.2.0

If you get a login screen or a login dialog, you're in luck. Most routers have no username, and a default password of either "admin" or blank.

And if your dad is worried about me hacking you, I can't unless I know your external IP address (which you shouldn't give me, or anyone, just out of principle). Your internal IP is inaccessible by me, because it is reserved for local networks (so if you said it was 192.168.2.102 for example, and I tried going to that address, it would go to a computer on my network with that IP). The only reason I want to know your internal IP is so that I can help you find the address of your router.
