A New Story

Hey everybody! I just joined the JCF awhile ago, after finding an old copy of JJ2 in a closeout software bin. There appear to be alot of intresting Jazz related stories written here, and I thought I'd contribute enjoy

Seven: A JJ2 epic

Part I: Where Do the Children Play
Chapter 1

Rivers of rain fell from a black sky, washing through the ancient grey stone of Carrottus city. Only a few brave souls trudged through the ancient city during the downpour. The weather was symbolic of the aging city, a monument in it's purely ceremonial function in the broad Rabbit empire.

It had been two hundred years since the terrible Rabbit civil war, which had ripped Carrottus in the late 28th century, spurred by 3rd Rabbit-Turtle war. After the fifty year conflict, a new dynasty seized the broken worlds of the rodents, a powerful monarchy seated in the home of the rabbits, Carrottus, and it's capital, Carrottus city.

A brownish pod hovered over the stone streets, a dull blue emitted by it's propulsion system. It bore the red sigil of the imperial power, but it was dimmed by the continual bombardment of frigid rain.

Though preferable to the chaos of internal warfare, the monarchy was unjust, and warmongering. It's power had doubled when it incorporated the Nomic empire, an old ally of Carrottus, into it's ranks. Since then it had been swaggering around, abusing it's weaker neighbors with it's militaristic and technological might. There was a growing tension among the powers of the Southern region of the galaxy.

Still, the rain fell...
A creature in a grey cloak sat in one of the cities towering structures, staring through an open port in the stone building at the stairway to the Holy Palace of Carrottus, where the brown pod, which bore the Prince Saliks IV, heir to the Carrotian throne

Amongst the foreign nations were not only other races, such as the Sectians, the Tuberans, Diamondians, and Medivans, but also foreign rabbit fractions that had broken off during the civil war, would not accept the new rule, and were strong enough to resist attempts at recapture. Lastly there were the Turtles, hidden in there ancient strongholds on Shellion. During the last days of the Last Rabbit-Turtle war, the Turtles prepared a massive metagenic weapon, which would flood most of Rabbit space with dense nebulae, making it difficult to traverse. In one of the desisive battles in the war, a ship carrying the device was shot down, and the metagenic substance created a massive gulf between the Rabbit and Shellian empires, effectively isolating Shellion for the next two centuries. No one knew what progress they had made in that time.

With a regal air, the heir stepped out of the pod, with a royal escort aside him. For him, this would be a great day, his father, King Saliks the III, was about to present a great new warfleet to the people, a testament that Carrottus was as verile and deadly as it had been in gone-by year.
From the stone structure across, the grey cloaked creature drew from the depths of the garb a long, black object, and pushed it through the port that gave him a view of the Royal steps. Placing two elegantly gloved hands on it, he looked through a crystalline shaft.
This was to be a new, glorious age for the Rabbit empire. With the Nomic's at their side, a new, secret expansion campaign would begin, and soon the Rabbits would control all of the quadrant. It was all so clear to Saliks. The universe was *his* right, all he had to do was reach out and grab it.
The creature twitched a finger, and a loud crack tore through the roar of the rain, and a brilliant bright bolt ripped through the night air. He then stood up, and walked away.
Saliks clutched a scorch in his chest and fell in a heap. His aids crouched beside him, their faces obscured.
"My lord," the one on Salik's right began,
"Burn them....burn them all..." Salik said as his head fell back.

And the grey creature walked down the cobblestone streets of the ancient city, fully aware of what he had set in motion.
The last Great War had begun.

To be continued....
