Chapter 9: The sword of the war general

Ax Man awoke to a poking on his shoulder. He woke up and grunted. Again he was tapped. Finally he gathered the strength to turn over. What he saw shot his eyes wide open. There were two elves holding a sword between their four hands, it glowed bright purple. Ax Man sat upwards and asked,

“What is this?” “A present” the elves answered almost unanimously. “Than I gradually accept,” Ax Man replied. He took the sword; it felt as if he had been searching for it his whole life. He twirled it forward and the purple radiance grew stronger. Suddenly the sword took on a life of it’s own. It swung in three circles and then thrust forward. The pupils in the elves eyes grew “you are the one of legend, the one of the inscription” they said silently “What inscription?” Ax Man asked, but he answered his own question, when he turned the hilt over he saw the inscription in a faint language he had never learned. The elves then started into song;

The sword of power

The sword of strength

The sword to banish evil’s bane.

The one of legend

The one of truth

The king of all that walks

The wand is yours

But is not

Heed it careful

But never enough

The great lord shall return

From his tomb of stone

Once again to try and rule the world

To banish him is your right by birth

Heed it well it is a task of truth

For pure you must be

Or embrace yourself to it’s evil

For the sword heed’s by its emotion

When wielding it be true to your heart

And not your mind. For if so you shall truly die.

Until the day the sword is named

Heed it carefully, because you shall not know your birthright

Use it only for good not for evil,

Shall you become a service of the great lord

In his task to rule the world

“But now is not the day for that my young king, for now go attack that castle!” the elves finished “and I shall! I now know my destiny! I will become war general of the resistance faction!” Ax Man yelled in triumph. He got dressed buckled on his sword belt and left the room, in a better mood than he had felt his whole life.

Chapter 10: Assault on the Castle

It had come to pass that by midsummer of the following year that the resistance had gathered enough members of the king’s guard to finally attack the castle. “The day had finally come! They were going to attack the castle!” Ax Man thought to himself. He looked at his sword and remembered what the elves had told him.

Ax Man laid out his battle plan. He placed his finger on the center chamber of the castle map. “Our mission is to capture the main chamber and kill Neolis. Now the point is not to slaughter everyone, we may have allies placed within the castle who may be willing to side with us. Persuasion could be a major ally in this battle. Now let’s go!”

The small army approached the castle, organized in flanks. Ax Man was only one of the 4 generals in the front flanks. They surrounded the castle. They had it under siege.

Suddenly a barrage of arrows flew at the small army. “Spread out! The arrows can only go a distance! I can handle this!” Ax Man yelled. He drew his sword from its sheath. Suddenly a light pulsed from it. The sword threw from his hands, and flew up towards the assailants. Suddenly a voice appeared in his head “Who is your enemy” “My enemies are those that are after my life” Ax Man thought. Suddenly the sword lunged at the assailants. He watched it dumb folded. 2 minuets later he saw them all decapitated. Suddenly the sword lunged at some of the soldiers in his own army. Ax Man tried to suppress it but it was impossible. The sword had done its work. “Maybe there were traitors in my own army” Ax Man thought. Suddenly the sword lunged at him. “I have no more enemies here!” Ax Man yelled. Suddenly the sword flew back into his sheath as if he had never drawn it.

Getting into the royal chamber was easy. He ran in where he found Neolis eating despite all the commotion. Suddenly Neolis got up and grabbed a sword “would you care to duel?” Neolis asked. “Yes…” Ax Man said. Ax Man grabbed for his sword and pulled it from the sheath.
