Chapter Three (3)



A few days later Me, BB and CT were on the road. They were all exhausted, for they had been walking for hours. BB said, "If only the War Tavern was near."



Me said, "Yeah, I would like a nice cold beer right now."



CT said, "What I would like is to lay on the grass on a nice windy day."



"Wait," said Me, "did you see that sign?"



They said, "What sign?" and looked around.



Then they saw it: the sign said "Make your own cake, free." They walked in the door and collapsed on the floor. Batty Buddy said, "We would like to make a cake."



The owner of the store (who was no one they knew) led them to a back room in the store. They then saw lots of ingredients for cakes. They all had a job: Me looked up recipes, Copper made the batter, and BB baked it. Because BB can bake a cake in three seconds, the cake was done very fast. When the cake was finished, they looked up another recipe, and they all had the same jobs. They then put that cake under the first cake, and then they had a two-layer cake. They then asked for a take-out box to hold it.



When they were just about to leave the store, the owner asked them, "By the way, why are you so exhausted?"



They then filled in the owner.



"Well then, can I accompany you?" asked the owner.



"Well sure," said Me, "but what's your name?"



The owner said, "My name is Willet Dowitcher."



Me said, "Well sure you can accompany us."



Then Copper said, "But who will run the shop while you're gone?"



Willet Dowitcher said, "I'll close the shop."
