Personality: Being a member of an association of mages and demi-mages, which is referred to as the Covenant, Nikolai is usually silent, tense, and brooding. He never speaks unless spoken to, and when he does speak his voice drips with irony and sarcasm. When he’s alone, which he prefers to be, he busies himself with his studies. Despite this, he is willing to help where it’s needed, and is a useful, if not invaluable, ally in battle.
Appearance: Nikolai’s dark blue fur is contrasted by his firey, orange-gold eyes, which hold their own power in and of themselves. He is never without his silvery mage’s cloak, marked with the insignia of the Covenant, and that article of clothing is the only one he wears, save for a black glove on his right hand, hiding it from view so as not to expose the burned scars that a miscast spell left some time ago.
Weapons: Because he’s a Light-Fire mage, and a masterful one at that, Nikolai is his own best weapon. His knowledge of his element spans a great number of spells, but the two that he’s most proficient with are an inaccurate, relatively weak, but very rapid spray of super-fast bolts, or the exact opposite: a highly focused, generally accurate, but slow-moving and exhaustive blast of energy.
Special Powers: If Nikolai is pushed nearly to the brink of insanity, he will literally explode, discharging all but a very small amount of his energy in one massive wave, levelling everything within a considerable radius. This leaves him nearly dead with exhaustion, but over time he will recuperate.

Personality: Nikolai’s wife Amethyst is quiet and secluded, like her mate, though not to the same extent. Many people find her to be the more personable side of the relationship, and therefore she has a few contacts that she and Nikolai can turn to in times of trouble. She studies the Covenant’s teachings by reading over her husband’s shoulder and leafing through his older books, so even though she is not a real member of the Covenant, she can often match, and sometimes even outmatch, Nikolai’s prowess as a mage.
Appearance: Amethyst’s eyes, being her namesake, are the first thing most others notice about her. They are bright lavender, and they shine when she smiles, even through her long, similarly-toned lavender hair that falls partially in front of her face. Her smooth, well-groomed fur is a deep blue-grey, which seems to augment the brightness of her crystal-clear eyes. Her robe is not that of a mage, but is more of a sky-blue dress robe, which flows around her as she moves.
Weapons: Amethyst is a pyromancer, albeit an untrained one, and as such has the power to spawn and control fire. She can hurl small- to medium-sized fireballs at enemies, cast a rolling wave of flame, or even manifest a sword made entirely of fire for her own use.
Special Powers: Like her mate, Amethyst reaches a point where she gets so completely overtaken by rage that her magic begins to control her. When it does, it sets her entire body aflame, and she becomes a living, moving, and lethal pillar of fire.
