I'd still have to type them out on the library computer.
Elexei grinned. "So here I am, about five of them standing around me, and they're just staring at me. There's this schwartzenguard behind me, he's winding up with his flailerang, and there's this shockbot in front of me, trying to zap me with his shockcharger. The schwartzenguard throws his flailerang low, trying to catch me at the knees, right? So I jump, it gets the bot instead, which zaps the Shellion, and they fall over and crack heads with each other. So now there's a lame shockbot and a Shellion staggering around, and three left, just staring at me. Jeez, Tira, take a breath!" He pounded Tira Diamond helpfully on the back as she laughed. She finally regained control.
"Thanks, 'Lex. Oh, man ..."
"I didn't think it was that funny," he said, which set her off again.
"Sorry, Elexei," she said between gasps for air and bouts of laughter. "I can just imagine that bot and the schwartzenguard hitting heads ..."
"All right," he said dubiously, shrugging.
"What happened next, 'Lex?" Kira Diamond, Tira's twin, asked.
"Well, they kind of woke up, and I hit the dirt quick. They're just firing blindly, right, and I tend to blend in with the dirt. So they're running around shooting anything that moves and some things that aren't, and one trips over me."
"Oh, no," Curvegrinder said. "I can tell what happens next ..."
"Yeah," Elexei agreed. "Next thing I know there's another one on top of him, and I scram. Chain reaction: five seconds after I'm out, they're all in a pile. That wouldn't have been so bad, but the shockbots are still firing, and the flailerangs are returning to the schwartzenguards, and there's this Snapper in the middle, biting everybody."
"Ouch," Kira said.
"I didn't stick around to see any more," Elexei went on. "Who knows when they would have sorted that out?"
"True," Grinder agreed. Tira sat up.
"I have no idea why that was so funny."
"Neither do we," Elexei agreed. Kira eyed her sister critically before suddenly grinning.
"That's okay, Tira. We'll forgive you."
"Eventually," Grinder chortled. Tira gave him a mock glare, and he subsided.
Elexei glanced at his watch.
"Whoa, is that the time?"
"Lemme see," Tira hauled on his arm. She peered at the watch. "Yes, that is definitely the time."
"Incredible deduction, Tira," Elexei said straightfaced. "Unfortunately it means that I have to go."
"Where?" Tira demanded, releasing his arm.
"The 'port. A guy I know is coming in on the
Temitango VII, needs a ride to Carrotus Castle."
"Who?" Kira asked. Elexei eyed her dubiously.
"Defalcon Phoenix. Is this the third degree?"
"Don't know him," Tira announced. "Can we come?"
"Sure, why not?"
"C'mon, Kira. Grinder, you coming?"
"Nah, got other things to do. Nice talking to you, though."
"Yeah," Elexei agreed. "See you later, Grinder. Girls?"
Tira grinned. "What?"
"Let's go. Defalcon's ship is arriving, like, now."
Odd chappie, still, got the Diamond twins, Elexei, and Defal in

All in all, a productive part.
