Justiar watched in horror as the blue rabbit fell, and Irinn turned to retreat. If Irinn escaped, all of this would have been for nothing.
That could not be allowed to happen. Justiar bent and slid his dagger from his boot.
Irinn turned impatiently. "Justiar!"
And Justiar realized then that Irinn still didn't know.
He scuttled over to Irinn's side, and followed the imperious General for a moment. Then he made his final move.
Irinn stiffened as the dagger found his heart. His unreadable eyes found Justiar's as he fell to the ground.
"Justiar?"
"I'm sorry, General," the spy whispered. Irinn sighed, understanding then.
"Ah."
His lithe body went limp. Justiar rose to his feet. He had an order to make.
Short, but sweet.
