It's not meant to be revolutionary so much as to be the best of everything that has come before compiled into one game.
First of all we have incredibly fast gun blazing action, you run and shoot like crazy; in JJ2 Jazz/Spaz/Lori moves considerably slower,[/quote]
I always was under the impression JJ2 was faster than JJ1. When you don't have the Fast Feet thing, I mean.

the abilty to walk instead of run might seem like an advancement, but I think it kinda sucks, in JJ1 you were forced to charge full speed ahead through everything, in edition to that the new smarter enemies like the bees and ghosts slow you down because you have to STOP and jump around to shoot them, this isn't challenging, its just a pain in the a**.
The enemies in JJ1 were probably harder. Interesting that you think any intelligence whatever is a bad idea.

The ammount of ammo you can hold is also greatly reduced which makes the game less of a shooting frenzey.
Imagine fighting any single one of JJ2's bosses with 999 powered up RF Missiles. Ooh. Dead. Next five! Really, the switch to 99 was very practical, as it means you can concievably run out of ammo and have to use your brain a bit more.

OTher thing I liked about JJ1 was its outlandish and often down right wierd landscapes and music. JJ2's landscapes are pretty, no doubt about it, but they are so dull compared to JJ1's.
JJ1 had Medivo, Stonar, and Holidaus. JJ2 has Psych, Carrotus and Haunted House. Everything in JJ2's tilesets is far superior to JJ1's - graphic quality, variety, masking variation, graphic variation, whateverelsethereistoatileset.

Same goes for music, tis very nice, but much more conventional. Finally theres the plot, yes, the plot. Remember the cheesey little stills at the end of each episode in JJ1? Theres nothing in JJ2 except the very conclusive ending movie. Deven gets smashed by a rock and Jazz gets married.
I'm not quite sure what that has to do with PLOT. That's more CUTSCENE COUNT. I seem to recall Dean had a limited time to make his animations, though, and having too many cutscenes wouldn't work very well when combined with JCS. Unless cutscenes were editable like .j2l files. That would be cool. (Though you must admit JJ1 didn't do that either)

The developers knew that they had lost their touch and didnt plan on making a sequal. Yes there was JJ3 later, but it didn't ever ammount to much did it?
Umm.... they DID plan on making a sequel, and everyone loved JJ2. I have no clue what you're saying.

I'm almost inclined to vote for JJ1 in this but you'd have to hold me at gunpoint or give me lots of money to get me to vote for JJ2.
JJ1 is an ok game, but it's beautifully primitive.
