Actually, Xion is sorta semi-immortal (just not old enough at all to use ancient magic; the reason immortals and semi-immortals are the only ones who can is because they can have lived since when ancient magic was first discovered and thus know it. Ancient magic is not an innate skill for immortals or semi-immortals), since dying does not fully effect him and even if his body is destroyed he can easily get a new one. And the damage from the universe exploding would be enough for Xion to use Planal Rune, since it would most obviously kill him.
