1) Sorry...my mistake. That was before I knew about your rifles/minigun.
2) Mere absorbtion. Kinda like a sponge. And they use that as a powersource, sometimes. So, it is possible to overload a creature into submission. Though Photon-based weapons that are set to a specific frequency, i.e. photon weapons, do deal damage. Your bombs have a large spread of photon frequency, so they are able to absorb them all at their will...Think of it like slapping a jell-o mold...
