This is not an exit.

I agree that some false positives need fixing, although the filter obviously isn't perfect. (I've seen some pretty odd ones occur.) Otherwise I don't have any problems with the filter. If I want/need to swear, I have my personal LiveJournal1 to use and abuse. Yes, I'm not exclusively a goody-goody person; I can (and do) curse much like the "cool" people we speak of. Seriously, I don't understand how people can constantly use the eff-word in debates and expect to sound dignified and intelligent. Call it "nerdy" if you desire - but as some people already mentioned, what's wrong with sounding intelligent? What's wrong with having strong enough skills (when it comes to debating) that you don't need to swear? Swearing is similar to personal attacks in debating; it only shows that you have a juvenile thinking process and cannot speak coherently in a mature fashion. Once in a while, we might slip and utter a swearword out of frustration. Right now, there's nothing wrong with the filter in my opinion. Since I don't post here that often anymore, I couldn't care less. If you must swear, http://www.livejournal.com/ is definitely the place to be. I think that LiveJournal is probably the best place to spam, swear and complain about life.

Whenever I get into an argument/debate with someone who always insists on swearing, I feel like laughing at them. Get a LiveJournal and swear in there. By keeping my essay-writing/preaching talents AND foul language restricted to a LiveJournal, I can avoid getting yelled at here for preaching or swearing, and I'm still being "cool"2. That should explain why I don't post here that often anymore.

Anyway, the only problem I have with the filter is when I post a story with false positives and they get filtered. It's a minor annoyance, but nothing terribly inconvenient.

2. This post has been brought to you by someone who has taken the time and effort to swear elsewhere.
