Marked As Read
One of my biggest peeves with this board is how it marks threads and forum if a certain amount of time has passed after your last action.
Let me give you an example of how this bugs me:
I generally check the board each evening, so one evening I come on, check the board, and leave. Then say sometime the next day someone in #jj2 links to a thread or something here on the JCF. I click to check on it, maybe make a post, but don't go through the rest of the board at that time. Then later that evening when I go to read through the board, most of the threads/posts I haven't read yet are marked as read.
This similarly happens when I just want to look up a single thread, a user profile, or even if I just take a long time to write up a post. The reason this is all so annoying is because I can no longer see which threads have new posts in them, or make use of the wonderful "Go to first unread post" feature.
What I would like is if posts and threads did not get marked as read until I either went through that thread, or I used the "Mark forum as read" button. If people still want posts to be automatically marked as read, please at least set the time limit to something higher, like a few hours. Or make it a user preference if you can. (If there's already a preference, forgive me, I haven't found it, please tell me where it is.) Thanks.
