Well, let's see what Wikipedia says...

Putting it quickly, according to them Nosferatu was a movie made back in the 20's in Germany. The full name being Nosferatu, the Symphony of Horrors, as Xion said. Good ol' Nos was a vampire, much like Dracula, which isn't surprising, given the producer of the movie wanted to do a film version of Dracula in the first place but wound up with Nosferatu when he couldn't get the rights.

At any rate, the estate of Bram Stoker sued them for copyright violation and they destroyed any copies of Nosferatu they could find, so getting a copy back then was tricky. Despite that, it's become a staple of vampirey stuff. One of the better movies, according to the Wikipedia article.
