Okay, If you look at any topic listing (let's use this one http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/forumdisplay.php?f=14 as an example), for each thread it has the thread name and then underneath that the thread starter. Taking this topic as an example, the thread name is "vBulletin Upgrade Bug Report" and the starter is "Link". Hover your mouse over the word "Link". Notice how the mouse pointer changes (usually to a hand) to show you that that is a link. Notice also that the word "Link" doesn't have the usual blue colour and underline that is used to show that something is a link.

Edit: link colour may vary (with default scheme it's red, with JCF blue it's blue)
