Defending shouldn't protect against the spell. I think the spell just has some initial shock damage too, though, as it seems to be reducing her HP fine now.

EDIT: Argh, I should have use slay and attacked the Water Elem. I misadded how much damage L33tzan, the Enchantresphere, and the Mythslayer could do.
