Uberbob stared boldly at the ice slope. "I'm climbing it alone," he said without looking back at the rest of us. "I refuse to risk the lives of those dearest to me on a foolhardy endeavour such as this."
"That never stopped you before," I said smugly. He looked back at me; his expression was strangely serious. Apparently he was having one of his rare moments of human emotion and somewhat-average intellegence.
"N0!" L33tz4n cried out. "You can't do it alone!"
Uberbob walked over to her and put his organic hand on her shoulder. "L33tz4n," he said, "there comes a time in every Bob's life when he must prove how uber he is. For me, that time is now. I might not make it back here to stand by your side, but we'll be together again some day." He took a deep breath and stared off into the clouds. "But I think it's gonna be a long, long time 'til then..."
L33tz4n put her hands over her mouth, stifiling a horrified gasp. Uberbob turned towards the slope and climbed back onto the rope. He climbed higher and higher, hammering in new chisels and tying the rope to them to keep going up. When he had used all five chisels, he closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and telekinetically pulled out the lowest chisel and floated it back into his hand. He climbed up to 100 feet, when suddenly disaster struck.
A huge boulder fell from the slope and began rolling directly towards him, gathering snow on the way down and getting larger and larger. Halfway down it looked to be about 20 feet in diameter. Apparently someone didn't want him to reach Upper Placespot so easily.
Uberbob shot the Snowball of Death a defiant eye. I hoped he had another brilliant plan this time, but unfortunately... he didn't. The snowball crashed into him and sent him hurtling to the ground. We all leapt out of the way of the gigantic obstacle as it crashed onto the frozen sea. It rolled away to the South, apparently to pay the icesmith a visit.
We gathered around the body of our fallen leader, Uberbob. He was was badly mangled, but on his lips was very faint smile.
"It could have been us," Fawriel said with a look of shock.
L33tz4n slithered to Uberbob's side and clung to him, resting her head on his chest. My heart shattered as I watched her cry on the corpse of the one she had loved most. I never could have imagined that things would have ended up this way...
"Waitasec," Shuri said, "can't Faw just bring him back?" We all looked at each other stupidly, then at Fawriel.
"Erm... yeah, I think so," Fawriel replied.
He knelt down beside Uberbob, placed his hands over his heart, and enveloped him in a pillar of white light. Uberbob's body levitated off the ground, lifted by shining wings of energy. They placed him upon his feet. He rubbed his eyes, shook his head, looked up to us and said, "Whoa... despite what teen movies will have you believe, dyin' ain't cool."
We suddenly had a big group hug, though it wasn't much of a group hug as it only consisted of Uberbob, L33tz4n and Fawriel. I glaced over at Shuri. She glanced back. "Hey, can't I get hug?" I asked with a smile.
"Yeah, sure," she replied, "but you have to die first."
With the path now blindly assumed to be hazard-free, the five of us climbed up the rope together. At long last, we crawled over the edge of Upper Placespot. I looked out over the frozen sea below, amazed by how far our scraggly group of misfits had come. Where would our journey take us next? Only Rad the future knows...
And thus ends my DMship. It's been fun, guys, sorry I had to kill you so much. ;D
