I had a in-progress level that had abunch of hidden useless messages that were out of the way to find. Stuff like "BLACKRAPTOR IS A FURRY~Trafton".
Near all of these messages, there'd be a secret that would typically be hidden in a wall or ceiling with the message "If you found this, you're double the clever"
So really, in that instance, it was the secret indicator.
