Unless you're flying from somewhere in Canada. No passport is needed to travel within Canada.
As for activities, Vancouver has lots. I know there are hiking trails around and within the city (Stanley Park got a bit wrecked by recent wind storms, but they might have enough of it cleaned up by the summer), and a hike is something I'd like to do (it didn't quite work out at WC2006  ). I also like the Vancouver Aquarium, which is a unique and interesting attraction. There's the Metrotown mall in Burnaby, which is pretty big and also has an arcade  . It's right beside a skytrain station and thus easy to get to.
I'm sure our Vancouver residents can come up with even more ideas, perhaps less-touristy stuff that you wouldn't find through Web research.
