The way it is now, the tileset looks to me like.. any other foresty tileset except with some grainy textures added in.
With the grainyness comes some sort of natural feeling and the atmosphere of old movies and such. It has charme, but it lacks something...

I know exactly what you mean, Faw, and I agree. The grass bugs me a bit for the same reason. As it is, it was mostly an exercise in colour conservation and drawing a tileset pixel by pixel (something I've never really done). The grass itself only uses three or four colours. Strangely, others have commented that they like it just fine.

I think there are actually some jpg artifacts in that picture. The actual tileset isn't much better, though.
