New Chapter

Okay, for those who are actually looking at my story, here's a new chapter. A bit short and a bit breif, but they'll start coming in more often.

Chapter 11: Story of the Nul
‘Okay, just so I understand, what the heck was that?!’ defalcon blew a fuse as Elfatine accessed the computer mainframe.
‘I don’t know. There doesn’t appear to be any references. Lemmie check with some of the spies. I’ll go through their reports and-’
‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! Back up there jack! We have spies?’
‘Well, if you knew about them, they wouldn’t really be much of a secret.’ Said Elfatine, staring intently at an invisible spot on the floor.
‘So who knows about them?’
‘Er…’ Elfatine became more intrigued by the invisible spot. ‘Kaz.’
‘Oh I get it. Don’t tell defalcon.’ He glowered while Elfatine continued to type furiously. Lines of code scrolled across the screen as each and every file the Ralvients onboard computers had was accessed.
‘Bingo. I found something. A link to a file on a genetic manipulator.’ The screen changed and moved to a collection of information on someone known as the ‘Dark Master’.
‘So. What’s the deal?’ defalcon impatiently glared at Elfatine, who continued to type away.
‘A mysterious creature named the Dark Master. He was a genetic engineer who attempted to create different breeds of genetically enhanced warriors. He had a secret lab, but it and him disappeared a good 50 years ago. It appears that what you fought was an early stage prototype turtle warrior. Streamlined, more agile, with more coordination, strength and speed.’ He accessed the file. ‘G-P-M 000000001A1. It was his attempt to create a breed of turtle that could compete against rabbits without being outclassed. There were flaws though. Some genetic code was overridden whilst experimenting and the resulting turtles have brain-stem malformations. Don’t notice what’s happening around them. Sort of one-minded. Programmed for a single task.’
‘So that faulty thing nearly whipped our butts.’
‘Faulty in that it wasn’t programmed to be ambushed. It was programmed solely for the job of attacking head on. Easy to snipe, to surprise attack or to trick. But if you overlook these flaws, the principle behind this is amazing. I wonder what other projects he had in development…’
‘Er, one thing before I go. How did the turtles get it?’
‘I’m not sure. Probably acquired it somewhere. This ‘Dark Master’ tended to dump failed experiments and leave them to be destroyed.’
‘Ah. I’ll be in my quarters.’

SHWING! A finely honed sword with a handle like a dragon cut through a chain holding a hover-bike to a post. A tall grey rabbit hopped onto the machine and revved the motor. The two turtle guards who were supposed to be on duty awoke with a start from their alcohol-induced stupor and began running after the bike. Unholstering weapons, they gave a loud yell to the rabbit.
‘Hey! Come back with that bike! We’ll fire!’
‘That thing’s a military issue Titan AE6-Hover-Bike! They don’t come cheap!’
Turning, the rabbit saw the turtles firing their weapons. Several streams of energy poured forth from the barrels of their guns and narrowly missed the bike.
‘If there’s one thing I hate, it’s turtles!’ With a look of vengeance, the rabbit turned the bike, accelerated and yelled to the wind.
‘Yaarrgggh!’ The rabbit swerved the bike and an exhaust pipe took off the ear of a turtle. Pointing a black blaster towards the turtles, the rabbit’s eyes burned with hatred. Unleashing a barrage of blaster bolts and leaving the smoking puddle of turtle guts to lie in the Diamondus grass, the rabbit sped off into the unknown.
‘Ugh…this…is…turtle officer…X089-A59…two officers…down…’ The comm. cut off in a burst of static and within moments a small squad of turtles on hover-bikes were dispatched towards the small Diamondus station.

‘On my command…fire!’ A line of D-Cannons fired simultaneously at the blue force field that shielded the mysterious valley.
‘Lieutenant Ripter K. Tanolt, reporting to Lord Shellion.’ The young terrapin officer reported his findings on a small communicator to Devan.’
‘Yes, I’m listening. Make your report brief.’
‘We have uncovered extra data on the force field. Our D-Cannon barrages are sapping it of its power, but some unknown force keeps regenerating it.’
‘Is that all?’
Ripter gulped, noting the unpleasantly annoyed voice of his leader. ‘Er, no sir. There are dozens of large crystalline structures that originate from within the planet surrounding this valley and much of the rest of the planet. They’re extremely tall, but they seem fragile.’
‘I see. So you’ve woken me up to tell me the force field won’t break and that the planet is a giant trinket. Wonderful. Don’t interrupt me with such trivial matters.’
‘Yes, sir. Ripter out.’ He shut off the communicator and let out a sigh. Something doesn’t add up here. Devan wanted to know everything about this planet – fertility of soil, air current patterns, and yet now he seems to hate it. What could it be?

Somewhere on Diamondus, a cold, harsh wind blew and ruffled the fur of the strange rabbit. Seeing the lights from a squad of turtle hover-bikes in coming in on the left, the rabbit knew that time had run out.

Okay, just so I know, is ANYONE aside from Krezack and Kaz actually reading this? Just so I know, and so I decide if I continue to write this or not.
