The only way is with vector images. Just take a look at TrueType fonts, they are made of vectors too. Try to type some letter in MS Word at size 1500 or so. You'll see perfectly smooth edges even though the letter (read: image) is zoomed in dramatically.


And btw, converting all the JJ2 sprites to vectors will be far too much work for this.
