Jazz2 didn't run on a perfect engine. These days we could probably replicate it, emulate, and much more by coding an engine of our own. There's definitely enough talent in this community.
c.f. FIFE (Fallout and much more), GemRB (Baldur's Gate and other IE games).
Both of those are open source if anybody is interested.

These engines are open source, but they 're designed for rpg games and
jazz2 isn't rpg - do you want write jazz2 rpg??
We _can_ make engine for new jazz2 but there must be a lot of people
that wants to help. But it may be inpossible because of (C) reasons.
