I liked it a lot; you did a good job in a slow transition between it sounding initially like artistic personification and ultimately fading into insanity. The bit about the trees not talking back kind of felt like where the story was outright telling me that talking to the lamppost was more than a metaphor.

As for insanity, I guess I should've mentioned one part that I missed in the story: the story from a "Picture Story" assignment that I did in my Creative Writing class. I had to pick any picture and write a story based off of it. The protagonist is really a bus stop. Here's the picture.
So yeah, not mentioning that the protagonist is a bus stop really changes the story. But it's actually more interesting when you assume it's a person.
