I'm wondering - is there any version of Jazz 1 where you actually die once the time is up?

When the time is up here, nothing happens. It just stops at 0 but I don't die.
I have the CD version of the game... I tried version 1.0 as well, same result.

It says in the manual you're supposed to die when the time is up... so I guess this is a bug?
