Nooo.. that's not 'ridges'. they're 'Rails' exactly.
These photos are example of real guns RIS.
RIS is one of gun's optional mount attachment, not essential part. so if it doesn't needed, we can removed it very easily.(Oh, I didn't draw the rail screws on it..)
I mean, They don't need to try to represent this part. and even also, I know that it would be very hard to animate all those details on 2D. but what about 3D?(for example, JJ3. <- Although, this game's developing seems stopped..) maybe they able to represent it.

Thanks to your understand. 
But. that is that, and project is project. I'll not use that designs to my project. that is LFG-'2200(even also, it's my imaginary!)' not LFG-'2000'.
