I don't really know.... cos I was addicted to iRC for a while and got really addicted to mIRC scripting so you could ask me to make a bot for you . A good, small server to what I know of, cos I used to be a helper there, is Centralchat at irc.centralchat.net. It's quite family friendly and well, it doesn't really net split that often. This is a good server I think cos it aint like Efnet or Dalnet and no viruses are around heh. So yes, I like the idea and a server with it
