I also think that it would be good to have a live system again. Maybe optionally. I think it would be great if you could play single player maps in a team and collect 1ups again. Especially on turbo difficulty that makes sense in my opinion. It would be a great challenge. If someone has lost all their lives, you could do it like LRS and put them in spectate mode. They would only be able to rejoin once someone has given them a 1up or at the next level. Maybe it's possible to implement that, and that rejoining could then only work if the other players agree.
